Located in the Pacific North West, Favourite Boatworks is a traditional wooden boatbuilding company specialized in wooden boat restoration, maintenance, interior design and construction.
On this channel we're featuring restoration projects, boat tours and other nautically themed subjects.
We are currently restoring the historical fur trader North Star of Herschel Island.
The North Star of Herschel Island is the last surviving Inuvialuit arctic fur trading ship, built in 1935 primarily as a motor vessel to transport arctic fox pelts, she was later modified as a square rigged ship. From 1968 to 1973 she was used for scientific expeditions in the Arctic Sea, she was later used to survey the British Columbia - Alaska border and was at one point commissioned by Cambridge University to search for mermaids in the north. She is a ship full of history and we're proud to be able to restore her and document the process for the world to see.

Hi viewers and supporters,
We’d like to start of and say that we’re really grateful for all the support and love we’ve gotten for this project in such a short time.
Unfortunately we’ve reached a point where we are forced to scale down the media side of things at Favourite Boatworks. We had high hopes to get this channel off the ground and self sustaining in a short period of time but we’ve been unsuccessful in reaching the amount of viewers and supporters needed for this to be financially possible.
What does that mean for Saving North Star?
We will still finish the North Star series, though in a limited fashion, you can expect an handful more episodes to be released over the lifetime of the project.
What does it mean for other projects/boat tours etc?
These have been put on hold for the foreseeable future with the hope that we can revisit these budget allowing.
If you want to support us and help keep this channel afloat please consider commenting, liking and sharing the videos to friends, on Facebook or wherever applicable, we can’t overstate how much this helps.
