Welcome to the YouTube channel of the European Space Agency - ESA.
ESA is Europe's gateway to space.
Its mission is to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.
SPACE exploration is a collective journey.
This is why 23 European countries are pooling resources, putting Europe at the forefront of space science, technology and applications.
SPACE also means fun.
Our team produces clips with the best images of Earth and of the Universe, with astronauts and other space events for you to watch and share.

#Juice has reached 30% of its journey to Jupiter! 🙌
▓▓▓▓▓▓▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ 30%
What has Juice been up to and what comes next? Read along. 🧃
1️⃣ Juice has recently reached its closest approach to the Sun and is now moving again away from our star. That means we're getting closer to the end of the very hot phase, but the spacecraft will still remain in what the team calls "medium hot cruise".
2️⃣ Venus fly-by done, we're on a direct trajectory to Earth 🛰️
In October, the team officially finished the Venus fly-by phase. They successfully performed a small trajectory correction manoeuvre that has Juice on a direct trajectory to Earth for its planned flyby.
3️⃣ It's a long and complicated way home 🌍
Despite heading toward Earth, the distance to our planet is still increasing and will reach its maximum only in mid-January 2026, before Juice gets closer again to meet Earth in September next year. Driving spacecraft through space is no easy feat. Juice is currently over 200 million km away from Earth with a one-way signal travel time for commands of almost 13 minutes.
4️⃣ Unplanned scientific opportunity ahead ☄️
Beginning of November, Juice will attempt to observe comet #3I/Atlas over a period of four weeks. The team plans on using several instruments, including cameras, spectrometers and a particle sensor.
Given Juice is still close to the Sun, it's using its main high-gain antenna as a heat shield. It will be sending data back to Earth using its smaller medium-gain antenna.
It is also far from Earth, on the other side of the Sun. For all these reasons, we don’t expect to receive Juice’s observations of 3I/ATLAS until February 2026. It is a long wait indeed, but it's a big space out there.
Where is Juice now? 👀

☄️ #3I/ATLAS comet update!
On 3 October, our ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) turned its eyes towards interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS as it passed close to Mars.
Together with Mars Express, ExoMars TGO had the closest view of the comet of all of our spacecraft. It looked towards the interstellar interloper from just 30 million km away during its closest approach to the Red Planet.

A star's birth announcement ✨🎉
Way out toward the edge of our Milky Way galaxy, a young star that is still forming is sending out a birth announcement to the Universe in the form of a celebratory looking firework. 🎆
Twin jets of hot gasses are blazing across 8 light-years – twice the distance between our Sun and the nearest star system. The central protostar, weighing as much as ten of our Suns, is located 15,000 light-years away in the outer reaches of our galaxy. 🔭 🧪

A blood moon from the edge of the world 🩸🌕
On 8 September 2025, between 1:00 and 4:00 in the morning at Concordia Station in Antarctica, the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022 cast its shadow across the sky.
While around 85% of the world’s population had a chance to see this eclipse, the crew at one of Earth’s most isolated outposts captured it from a truly unique vantage point — perched on Dome C plateau, after months of polar night and temperatures as low as –80 °C.
As Earth’s shadow curved across the lunar surface, the Moon slowly glowed red — a cosmic reminder of our planet’s rotation, our shared sky, and the beauty seen from even the most remote corners of Earth.
Each year, we support a medical doctor at Concordia to study how humans adapt to such extremes — research that helps prepare us for future missions to the Moon and Mars.
