Coming up on half a year of no uploads, just want to post an update: I am still here and active, and am still working on stuff. There's an edit with a song from The Dear Hunter that I'm suuuper close to being done with but I've just been dreading dragging it across the finish line lol. Hopefully something will go up reasonably soon!
The new BTBAM album is turning my brain inside out. It feels glorious.
For those unaware, this channel's name is largely a BTBAM reference (to their song Fossil Genera - A Feed From Cloud Mountain), so while I don't make a habit of sharing songs here, I'm making an exception to shill for them here. This is incredible work.
I have uploaded a slightly extended version of The Homura Problem!
I got some feedback wishing the video ended more concretely, so I thought about how to do that. The song is kind of crazy so the solution wasn't immediately obvious to me, but I did find a way to end it more conclusively without inflating the video's length.
It is still very much the same video, just with 13 seconds added to the end. So, if you liked The Homura Problem but just wish it ended with more finality, this is for you!
The original version will remain public and this version will be unlisted, but available at any time via link in the original video's description. I don't want to divert clicks away from the original upload as that is still the core video, and I'd rather not clog my channel with multiple public versions of the same vid, so this is how I'm organizing it.
I just flipped through my Pandora Hearts volumes again after a long while and was overcome with emotion. The things this series did were truly special, and still cut right to my heart even just glancing at them.
Hm. For some reason, Lovebite is now blocked worldwide. Maybe it has to do with the Haken live album coming out soon, and the vid will be restored back to normal after it does?? A similar thing happened with Caligula's Horse right before they released an instrumental version of their album, so maybe the copyrights just temporarily become more fierce before an imminent release involving the songs used?
At any rate, just wanted to give a heads up - I did not delete Lovebite, it's just blocked. Hopefully it's restored at some point! It was my first Vanitas edit and it'd be a shame for it to just be gone now.
My goal this year is to finish a long Madoka Magica / Pain of Salvation edit that I started in 2018. It was intended to be a sort of spiritual successor to Finally Free, but I started the video right around when I first started working full time (and was still stubbornly committed to editing chronologically on the timeline) so progress became agonizingly slow. I completed the draft of the first half for a contest in 2022, and that is the last time I put any work into it.
Well, it's time. Especially now that the sequel to Rebellion is finally coming, it's time to put a pin in this. I've edited all of the buildup and none of the payoff, the fun stuff that motivated me to make the video in the first place, and it's time to buckle down and do it. I will complete Wicked Path this year. And finally, I can put my longest in-progress edit to rest.
If you want to see an extended preview/the current state of the video, attached is the draft that I submitted to RICE 2022. It's still unlisted and will forever be, but I am choosing to share it here as a declaration of intent.
Arcane season 2 act 2 is unbelievably good. I finished the last episode sitting in absolute awe. Unironically chill-inducing in so many ways at so many times.
