The Vegan Community

The Vegan Community (TVC) is a place where vegans come together to connect, grow, and make a difference. It’s built for anyone who wants to feel supported—whether you’re a seasoned advocate, just starting out, or simply curious about vegan living. We’re here to share resources, build each other up, and make sure no one feels alone on this journey.

At TVC, we believe that together, we’re stronger. By uniting our voices and efforts, we can create the kind of change we’ve always dreamed of—for the animals, the planet, and each other.

Why Do We Love Some Animals and Not Others, Jackie Norman and Gareth Scurr

Why Do We Love Some Animals and Not Others?

Where did our beliefs that eating chickens and pigs is ok, but not our dog or house cat come from? The term speciesism might be new to you, but it pervades almost every aspect of today's society.
Join Vegan FTA's Gareth Scurr and Jackie Norman Saturday, February 18 at noon EST as they explore the origins of our beliefs around animals. They will also share heartwarming stories of special animal ambassadors who changed their thinking and food choices.

Gareth Scurr is an acclaimed photographer and filmmaker, Vegan Hospitality Consultant and co-author of 'Easy & Delicious: Everyday Vegan' cookbook, which was awarded runner-up in the VegfestUK 2021 "Favourite Plant Based Book" awards.

Jackie Norman has been featured in national and international print, TV and radio. She is the bestselling author of three books, podcast co-host with Gareth, and serves as Vegan FTA Development Director. Her years of insight and experience as a former dairy and beef industry worker makes her a powerful educator to animal rights, plant-based advocacy groups, and political parties on the animal agriculture industry and encourages positive communication with those who still work within it.

Compassionate Disagreement with Anne Piotrowski & Suzanne McAllister
We are happy to welcome Anne Piotrowski and Suzanne McAllister back as we had technical issues on Jan 28th.

Some advocates for veganism get attention through aggressive, destructive or violent behavior. While they get headlines, they don’t often change other’s views. Yet a casual conversation can also be challenging when sharing the benefits of a vegan/plant-based lifestyle. How can you bridge the communication gap?

Join us as vegan activist and certified counselor Anne Piotrowski will share how to shift the focus of vegan advocacy from conflict to connection by applying self-compassion, empathy, and nonviolent communication.

You’ll learn:
· How to apply non-violent communication
· The importance of self-compassion that expands outward
· Compassion as a practice that improves over time

How Can We Heal the Climate with Dr. Sailesh Rao

Our planet supports more than 8.7 million living species. Yet we are experiencing extreme degradation and unprecedented climate change. 97% of scientists believe much of our planet’s challenges are caused by human activity. Is it possible to heal the climate?

Join us Saturday December 3, 2022 with our very special guest Dr Sailesh Rao for the answers.

Dr. Sailesh Rao is the Founder and Executive Director of Climate Healers, a non-profit dedicated towards healing the Earth’s climate. He is a systems engineer, Human, Earth and Animal Liberation (HEAL) activist, husband, dad and since 2010, a star-struck grandfather. He has promised his granddaughter, Kimaya, that the world will be largely Vegan before she turns 16 in 2026, so that people will stop eating her relatives, the animals. He has faith that humanity will transform to keep his pinky promise to Kimaya, not just for ethical reasons, but also out of sheer ecological necessity.

Dr.Rao has created a Climate Bathtub model to help humanity understand the solution space for reversing climate change and enabling a thriving planet. Since the dawn of the agricultural revolution, humanity has been largely organized as a Climate HEATing civilization. This has prevented the earth from going back to another ice age, but we are now in danger of overheating the planet to a point of no return. It is time for humanity to transform into a Climate Healing civilization that reduces the overheating and harmonizes the climate of the planet for generations to come. In this talk, we will explore how to accomplish this greatest transformation in human history on a foundation of self-healing and nonviolence.
