Eleanor Rigby!

Proto punk/garage rock bands that I recommend:

-The Stooges!! (Or Iggy Pop)
-The Velvet Underground (especially their album with Nico)
-The Sonics (lots of earlier rock n roll songs but heavier and with a more garage-like sound. ‘The Witch’ is a personal favorite of mine!)
-The Monks (pretty obscure, but I highly recommend their album Black Monk Time)
-The Fugs (they’re literally the first underground band ever I’m pretty sure. They were singing explicit lyrics and anti-war statements in like 1964! They’re kind of like Iggy Pop and the Velvet Underground, with a lot of satirical writing. Also Tuli Kupferberg looks kinda like George Harrison, particularly the smile :D)
