If you have been around the Gemmy Community for a while, you have probably heard of or seen the "prototype halloween fish." Such a thing simply does not exist. It's a blatant lie. A lie presented as truth for about 10 years. And honestly, not many people ever fell for it. It looks so incredibly crude. There is no hint of authenticity to the item. But the presence of a legitimate Gemmy Prototype board was always very misleading. Well, you can't outrun progress. The truth was going to come out eventually. And here it is. Dr. Shivers' Mongrel Mutt, that's what the board is from. An unreleased 2007 Dr. Shivers Lab Item....yeah. In the "halloween fish". Just a lucky find on Ebay in 2013, before most people even really knew what a prototype was. The story of the Mongrel Mutt is that it's one of Dr. Shivers' experiments. That's why it could talk and sing. Just wholly and utterly tragic what was done to it. On the bright side, in this video, you can see just how many were made. So, there is a real chance that one could surface and fall into more responsible and deserving hands. If you only care about the authenticity of the "halloween fish" and the Mongrel Mutt, there is no need to read any further. However, if you want to hear more about this "Dade" (currently "dadescustoms" on YouTube) who made the fish and tried to fool everyone, read on.

Letting people know that all the "screenshots from Messenger" in this video are fake and that I "called him slurs". There sure were a lot of screenshots in this video, right? I swear he can't open his mouth without lying about something. All he had to do was message me back so that we could actually talk about this, but he instead opted to hide away in his cave and spread more lies. So yeah, gonna go all out with this. Hope it can serve as sort of a wake up call for Dade, and maybe he can turn himself into somebody worthy of respect.
Dade (formerly Omnibot Freak) was involved in the Gemmy community (mostly Singing Fish) very sporadically for about a decade. The pattern seems to be that he shows up, does something stupid to make everyone angry, and then disappears for a few months to a year, hoping that people will just forget about it. Also, here's the obligatory "I'm not bullying a minor." According to what Dade told me, he would be 26 or 27 today. 17 when he killed the dog.
I'll start this by admitting that Dade has wronged me on a personal level in the past. I am by no means an unbiased source. He lied and pretended to have an item that I was desperately looking for in order to gain my trust, I showed him Count Cool Cat pre-restoration, which I had no intention of publicly revealing until the repair was complete. I asked him not to share it, and he agreed. The very next day, I'm informed that he made a Discord account in MY NAME pretending to be me and was sharing the pictures everywhere. I could not care less about the pictures after so long. But just the fact that he impersonated me is really messed up. I wouldn't touch that with a 15-foot pole. But of course, when confronted, he just disappears. Classic Dade.
Didn't hear a word from Dade for months after that. Until one day, he leaves a comment begging for forgiveness, saying he would do anything to make it up to me. I tell him it's fine, water under the bridge. But I obviously had no intention of speaking to him after trying to steal my identity. Fast forward a few weeks, and I get sent some screenshots of Dade saying incredibly rude and nasty things about me in private that I won't repeat. What happened to doing anything for forgiveness? He definitely just wanted more pictures. I was never anything but nice to this guy. All I ever did to him was doubt some of his incredibly far-fetched claims (more on that later). But with all that in mind, just know that I'm not exactly impartial. This discovery of the Mongrel Mutt and some more recent rumors have just stirred up some old resentment and pushed me over the edge, prompting this video/ community post to be made.
I'll continue with the stuff that was actually told to me directly by Dade. According to Dade, the fish came from his uncle "John" who "worked at Gemmy." he also claimed to have a prototype Fraidy Bat, Dancing Hamsters, you name it. Honestly, it is irrelevant. just lots of stuff. But we know the fish is fake, so it's obvious all of that was also a lie. He was never able to get them "out of storage" for one pathetic excuse or another. He might not even HAVE an uncle, who is to say? Definitely never had one that worked for Gemmy.
One of his claims I found the most comedic was that the prototype Headless Butler in the silver suit was in the storage unit next to his. But he had only seen it once when the guy happened to be in his unit and never spoke to him, yet he somehow knew that the arm was motorized. I mean, come on. That's so silly. Never bought that story for even a second.
A couple of times, I asked him certain things to try and test him, to catch him in a lie. It was really easy. I asked him if he had seen the 2 Variant clothing Freaky Geeks in store (He liked to claim that he saw literally everything in store, including items that don't exist) and he was like: "Oh wow, yeah, I saw those at Joann Fabrics" like dude come on, they were Kmart exclusives. Seemed like every word that left his mouth was a lie for no reason at all. He also claimed to see Stray Cat Strut Fraidy Cat in store. Described the box as being in the 05 style guide. Yet the item was from 2008. If I tried to touch on every example, we would be here for hours, so I'm leaving some stuff out. Just know, I'm thinking real hard and genuinely struggling to recall an example of Dade telling the honest truth.
He also had a "factory error" grave raver mummy that had a Dynamite board in it instead of Thriller. Some of you may remember this. But it was recently also proven to be likely fake because the arms are wired backward. Also, just look at this guy's record. Of course it's fake! That's one less Dynamite Skeleton out there.
It is so ironic that the single remarkable story that Dade ever had to tell, the story of the Mongrel Mutt, the only impressive item he has ever owned. The story of finding a prototype on Ebay in 2013 out of just pure dumb luck; is the story he chooses to keep to himself. He thought it better to twist and morph the story into a tragic, shameful LIE. And yet, he made up all of this nonsense to try and impress others. At the end of the day, the truth is so much more interesting. It's unfortunate that I had to tell it for him.
This next point is just hearsay. But I've heard the exact same story from multiple people. People who actually have a spine, unlike Dade. And that's enough for me. The consensus seems to be that Dade took multiple people's Singing Fish in for repair. One of which is one of a kind, the only one to ever surface so far. And then he just vanished again and took their fish with him. Literally stole them. That's a really low bar to set for yourself. You really can't get much lower. I've also heard a version of the story, where the fish were apparently so hard to restore that he disappeared out of shame. I'm not sure I buy that. You don't have the right to accept repairs if you can't fix a singing fish. But if that is the case, RETURN THE FISH. You do not get to vanish with somebody's items because you are unskilled and too childish/ weak to admit it.
I have pretty much said my peace. I reached out to Dade multiple times, on multiple platforms. I gave him every opportunity to make his case and prevent this upload/ post. But he never worked up the courage to say anything, so here we are. I encourage Dade to respond publicly under this post. This facade Dade has been building up for a decade or more, is finally crumbling down around him, and I'm so here for it. Shouldn't have been such a clown all these years and shouldn't have messed with CJ Webbler. He thought he was so above everybody else, like he's the best that there is at everything. just look at the stupid minimal effort lies he expected us to fall for. This guy really doesn't think much of others' intelligence. And if you associate with Dade, maybe rethink who you surround yourself with. Chances are he's just using you for something, even if that is something as minuscule as echo-chamber validation.
(UPDATE) Since all this was initially posted, Dade returned and bartered for the removal of the video. He still has the Mongrel Mutt's collar and claimed to still have the head. I no longer believe that he has the head. He also said he was going to return the stolen fish. We worked out a trade for the mutt parts and a plan of action to get the fish back where it belongs, and then he just vanished again. Not a word for 3 weeks. Until he came back under another fake alias "Mr. Meowth" who just happens to have a "prototype" booty shaking snowman. It's a fake. It's just another halloween fish. he only ever showed pictures of inside the base, but the eprom was EXACTLY matched to the one seen in the halloween fish. On top of that, Dade had confided in me that he wanted to keep the mutt's eprom, for this very reason. Dade's discord account has since been deleted. Mr. Meowth is likely soon to follow, given how quickly he got called out. This was the last chance I was personally willing to give him and he absolutely blew it. He is nothing but a theif and a liar. And it seems that is just who he will remain to be.
