What is VPN?

Here's an example to illustrate how a VPN (Virtual Private Network) works:

Imagine you're at a coffee shop and you want to access your online banking account. Normally, your internet traffic would go through the coffee shop's public Wi-Fi network, which may not be secure.

*Without a VPN:*

- Your data (username, password, etc.) travels from your device to the coffee shop's router
- From there, it goes to the public internet, where it can be intercepted by hackers or third parties
- Finally, it reaches your bank's server, where it's authenticated and processed

*With a VPN:*

- You connect to a VPN server using a VPN client or app
- Your data is encrypted and sent to the VPN server
- The VPN server then forwards your encrypted data to the public internet
- The data reaches your bank's server, where it's decrypted and processed

In this example, the VPN creates a secure, encrypted "tunnel" between your device and the VPN server. Even if someone intercepts your data on the public internet, they won't be able to read it because it's encrypted.

This way, a VPN helps protect your online activity from:

- Snooping and eavesdropping
- Data theft and interception
- Online tracking and surveillance

By using a VPN, you can enjoy a more secure and private online experience, even on public networks like the coffee shop's Wi-Fi!
