RJF Entertainment® — Nintendo Interaction Policy

Purpose

This policy outlines the official stance and operational boundaries of RJF Entertainment® in relation to Nintendo Co., Ltd. (“Nintendo”). While RJF Entertainment® acknowledges Nintendo’s cultural and commercial impact on the video game industry, this policy is designed to establish clear, respectful, and protective measures that will allow both parties to coexist without conflict or infringement.

Policy Statement

RJF Entertainment® maintains strict and healthy boundaries with Nintendo to avoid legal disputes, brand confusion, or over-association. We recognise Nintendo as a historically litigious company with a strong stance on IP protection, and therefore have crafted this policy with caution, legal awareness, and professional respect.

Key Points of Policy

1. Platform-Specific Game Porting
- RJF Entertainment® titles may only be ported to:
- Nintendo Switch
- Nintendo Switch 2
- No other current or future Nintendo hardware or services are to be considered for game releases unless this policy is revised and approved by legal counsel.

2. Creation Distinction
- All RJF Entertainment® games, characters, stories, art styles, and mechanics must intentionally avoid mimicking, imitating, or directly referencing Nintendo’s intellectual property, including:
- Game mechanics that are signature to Nintendo franchises.
- Character designs, art styles, themes, or motifs that are strongly associated with Nintendo properties.
- Use of parody, satire, or homage that may be legally questionable.

3. No Association or Misrepresentation
- No promotional material, press release, or public statement may imply or suggest that Nintendo and RJF Entertainment® have a partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, or collaboration, unless such a relationship has been formally and contractually established.

4. Preemptive Legal Preparedness
- RJF Entertainment® will maintain a legal response strategy in the event of:
- Trademark disputes
- Cease and desist notices
- Unfounded or retaliatory IP claims by Nintendo
- This includes having a vetted legal team ready to respond promptly and with evidence of non-infringement.

5. Documentation and Compliance
- All developers and artists at RJF Entertainment® will be briefed on this policy during onboarding and must adhere to its principles when creating any game content.
- Violations of this policy may lead to project delays, internal reviews, and reworks to ensure legal safety.

Why This Policy Exists

Nintendo has a documented history of aggressively defending its IP, often to the detriment of small developers, YouTubers, and fans. RJF Entertainment® aims to avoid conflict, not invite it. This policy is both a shield and a strategy, ensuring that we can expand to Nintendo’s platforms without risking lawsuits, takedowns, or bad press.

🚨 Let's Bring Back the YouTube Dislike Counter! 🚨

In 2021, YouTube removed the public dislike counter, claiming it would protect creators from targeted harassment. But in reality, this change has led to serious downsides for viewers and creators alike.

Without the public dislike count, viewers struggle to quickly assess content quality, making it easier for clickbait, misleading videos, and low-effort content to thrive. Creators also miss out on transparent feedback that helps them improve their work.

We all remember YouTube Rewind 2018 – one of the most disliked videos in YouTube history for a reason. The video was out of touch with the community, and the overwhelming dislikes reflected that. Removing the dislike counter has allowed similar low-quality trends and content, like Skibidi Toilet and Cocomelon, to flourish unchecked. If the dislike count was still visible, we’d have a better chance at filtering out the brainrot content that dominates kids’ recommendations today.

What’s the solution?

I’ve started a petition calling for a compromise that works for both sides. Creators should have the option to control how their like and dislike counters are displayed on their videos:

- Show Likes and Dislikes
- Show Likes Only
- Hide Likes and Dislikes

This simple feature would restore transparency for viewers while still protecting creators from potential harassment. It's a win-win for everyone! 🙌

We’re aiming for 100,000 signatures to make this change happen. I need your help to get there!

Let’s make YouTube a better place for everyone. Please share this post, sign the petition, and spread the word to your friends, family, and followers!
