DrBSully | Crime, Law, Justice

I'm a Criminal Justice PhD & Eagle Scout addressing crime, law & justice challenges & trying to find the truth.

Interested in collaborating, sponsoring a video, or requesting a topic for me to cover? Think I got something wrong or made a mistake? Contact me through my website DrBSully.com or share your thoughts in the comments.

I try to upload new videos weekly (weather permitting) along with random shorts. Any videos with B..S.. in the title are entirely satirical (i.e., my attempts at humor).

I’m just one guy working entirely independently to share my life's work and provide for my family. Thank you for your support!

Are you tired of hearing about the debt ceiling? Me too. It is a constant impediment that sucks all the oxygen out of the room and prevents so many very real problems from even being discussed. What makes it even more infuriating is that it is an artificial accounting measure that makes absolutely no sense and violates the plain text of the U.S. Constitution. But for some reason we're supposed to go just along with this farcical political theater that now threatens to tank the entire economy and the legitimacy of the U.S.? We shouldn't have to suffer due to their greed, hubris, and incompetence.

There are many things about this entire debt ceiling nonsense that don't make sense. But in this video I focus primarily on three:

1) Why does the executive need an additional authorization to borrow money to pay for things Congress already told them to buy?

2) How exactly is defaulting on the debt NOT in direct violation of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution?

3) How are negotiations supposedly about dealing with the debt to be taken seriously when the biggest items that suck up all the money in the budget AND the biggest mechanisms for raising additional revenue are completely off the table?

Any thoughts on what I should cover next? I'm almost done posting a series of videos looking at various aspects of indicting a former President. The latest one dives into the "political prosecution" angle that we've heard quite a bit, the next and last one focuses on holding powerful elites accountable. I wanted to have all these done much sooner but several illnesses in the family put me behind (currently dealing with pink eye for the past week or so, which is fun).

Well, that was embarrassing! Had no idea the mic sound was not coming through on my Easter afternoon live stream. Thanks so much Sancho for pointing this out to me. Had the wrong audio track being sent through the stream. Sorry to everyone who tuned in to not hear anything! Here is a link to the redone stream: youtube.com/live/A0Y0B89RISE

The clash between Disney and Florida Republicans has popped back up again. I covered this from numerous angles last year when it first began, and in a way I haven't really heard anywhere else. Is a central component of the conflict being consistently left out? And if so, why?

Good Friday All. Well, I planned to talk about the Trump indictment and arrest yesterday, but wasn't feeling too great. Went to urgent care this morning and turns out I have strep. Fun fun. Nothing serious, but still, not exactly comfortable to talk for an extended time. That's the reason for the moving target of the scheduled live stream. So, I'm aiming for Sunday afternoon instead. Hope to see you there!

What do you think of former President Trump being indicted?

In a historic first, a former U.S. president has been formally charged with a crime. What does it mean? What are the implications? Should this really be as big a deal as it's being made out to be? When unsealed, hopefully in the next few days, I'll come on live to go through the entire indictment and address these and any other related questions you want to discuss.

Happy St. Patrick's Day folks! Been away for a bit revamping my website, but will be back posting more often very soon. Currently finishing up a video looking at how what's been happening in East Palestine compares with another major chemical contamination disaster: the Love Canal. And the extent to which incidents like these should be looked at as not just accidents or disasters, but instead as crimes. And I want to look more closely at the recent bank failures that are prompting flashbacks to the 2008 financial crisis. Certainly no shortage of challenges to tackle.

I've recently been cleaning up and reposting some of my older videos whose quality was less than ideal, several of which were me having some fun with more satirical content. Other than a few more shorts, this is the last of these for now though. I'll be shifting gears back to more straightforward, information-driven videos (with a touch of humor thrown in to keep them interesting). Topics I'm looking at next include white-collar and corporate crime; crime and justice policies; and police-community relations. Stay tuned!

The first bill introduced in the Republican-led House is to rescind additional funding for the IRS from last year's Inflation Reduction Act. While there is no chance this will be enacted with a Democrat controlled Senate and White House, it hinges on the often repeated claims of "87,000 new IRS agents" supposedly coming to take all of our money. Check out this video where I address this new boogeyman.
