So... YouTube Memberships sucks.

Doing this kind of work completely without sponsors isn't easy, it's also why I love playing with nugget cars as apart from being some of the most wholesome fun you can get from a car it also helps keep the bills down 😅. Mercedes CLS door rubbers cost $2000 PER SIDE. Heck if I was a millionaire I'd have a dyno cell to do full kerosene runs with Tony 🚗👀.

YouTube Memberships absolutely helps a bunch with piles of youse in there! It's also extra content that I love making and is best suited to be not on my front page and a part of a fun little "clubhouse" of sorts.

But YouTube Memberships isn't a fun cheap clubhouse, everything is advertised on my videos tab along with main uploads and worse it's even recommended to people as they scroll through content. It looks awful to see my videos tab and to see the majority of content isn't available unless you pay or to be constantly teased with stuff you're missing out on.

In short, I hate it and I think it's more damaging to my channel than a positive.

I'm sorry for those whove dipped in to suss the MotorWeek videos I do.
I'm still making the same amount of extra content as normal but it will only be on Floatplane.com. I've been on Floatplane for like 3 years now and I adore it, it's a TINY video hosting platform owned by tech enthusiasts who have built it themselves. I get support when I need it, they listen to features as creators think of them and I have all the control I need.

You can even select what specific channel of mine you want to get notifications on so if you only want the car stuff you can set that up!

So Memberships is getting the boot, if YouTube fixes it and actually gives my business control over how it outwardly faces the world then I'd happily open it up again. It's just a safer bet to walk away for now.

The world is cooked, people are paid nothing but charged a premium for stuff we can't even own so I get that $2.80/month is almost 3X the price of $1 Memberships. $2.80 is as cheap as I can make it, I take $1 and the rest is to make the site run which is what it costs to have zero ads or sponsors with awesome support from a tiny team. So no worries about jumping over, this post is more of a heads up/apology for folks who are either a Member or were looking to be one.

Big read I know, this was ALMOST a video but I'd rather do fun stuff like pour edible condiments into a combustion engine or go and race The Goober. I've never shut down a Membership thing before so if its super messy... that's why. I'll leave it running for a few more days if theres a vid you haven't seen yet but then she's gone m8.

But lastly a big thanks for watching, honestly just watching and interacting with my vids does HEAPS so a big thanks to everyone for helping out Floatplane or not!

I also do a lot of other extra content but you can go into settings and disable notifications for that stuff if you’re not into it. Every video I ever make goes up onto Floatplane so it’s a central hub for all things “me”.

I use Floatplane as it’s a small independent platform that lets me host multiple channels for one fee, been on there for over 2 years now! Any subs help out the channel massively as jars of Nutella sure ain’t cheap now days right??

Hey Goobers!

Don’t fear, I haven’t disappeared! In fact HUGE progress has gone on in the background with a new car build landing soon and other cars actually RUNNING. Also there has been a total over haul of the precious Litreboard to gain more nugget data, means we get to run them all again 🙌.

But half the stuff we buy breaks immediately or companies don’t actually send anything for a week or two thus the delays. Regular uploads hopefully resuming soon 👏

I must offer my sincerest apologies for displaying such violent and graphic content on this channel. I must have forgotten how offensive the Wii Sports Theme actually is, Nintendo is a brutal game company after all. 

But we are now one step closer to understanding what is okay and not okay on this site:

Drums = voilent
Nintendo = violent
Frank = graphic and violent

I even got kicked back for channel monetisation, all very fitting for a channel called "Garbage Time" haha!
