The Doctor Patient Forum - Don't Punish Pain

The Doctor Patient Forum is a non-partisan, community-based organization that works to support pain patients and their providers with access to lifesaving pain relief and to mitigate the harmful effects of efforts to curb liberal prescribing and overdose. With a focus on disabled people, those with chronic pain, and providers who work with them, DPF provides information, practical tools, and policy analysis to strengthen patient-centered safe and appropriate medical support and advocates for approaches that reduce increasingly common suffering and death resulting from non-consensual medication reduction or termination of care.

We’re re-posting our NarxCare video because there’s an important update.

The FDA has issued an interim response to our citizen petition asking them to regulate NarxCare as Software as a Medical Device. The petition is still open for public comment, and your voice matters.

🖊️ If you haven’t commented yet, now’s the time. Please share with doctors, lawyers, patients, or anyone who understands how dangerous secret scoring systems can be.

▶️ Watch (or re-watch) the full breakdown here: https://youtu.be/u2IN1LmIXdc?si=mGC1i...

Together we keep pushing. This is why activism takes grit, persistence, and community. 💜

The Doctor Patient Forum - Don't Punish Pain

We’ve seen a lot of conversation this week that shows how important it is to be clear about what non-partisan really means for The Doctor Patient Forum or any nonprofit.

What “Non-Partisan” Does Mean:

1. No party endorsements. The IRS definition is clear: non-partisan means we do not support or oppose political parties or candidates.

2. Mission first. Our work is about ending patient abandonment, exposing stigma, and supporting providers and families. We focus on issues, not party platforms.

3. Open to all. It means this is a space where people of all political beliefs can come together around a shared mission, whether conservative, liberal, independent, or apolitical.

4. Policy engagement is allowed. We can still speak on laws, regulations, and policies that affect patients, but we do it from the perspective of the mission, not a party line.

What “Non-Partisan” Does Not Mean:

1. Silencing humanity. Non-partisan doesn’t mean we can’t grieve a tragedy, condemn violence, or show compassion for a family who lost someone. Those are human values, not political positions.

2. Obligation to one side. It doesn’t mean we have to agree with only one group of supporters, or filter our compassion based on politics. We fight for all patients, not just those who vote a certain way.

3. Absence of values. Being non-partisan doesn’t mean being neutral on morality. Violence, threats, and celebrating someone’s death will never be tolerated here.

Why This Matters Now:

Claudia recently shared a vigil poster on her personal account after Charlie Kirk was murdered in front of his wife and two babies. For that, we received angry cancellations and even threats of violence and murder.

We want to be very clear. Compassion for a grieving family is not political. Condemning murder is not partisan.

Threats of violence will never be tolerated. If someone feels inclined to wish harm on another person because of politics, this is not the community for them.

Our Commitment
DPF is a place where people can bring their beliefs, experiences, and pain, as long as it’s done with respect. We will always fight for patients across the spectrum, regardless of politics, religious beliefs, or identity. Our strength as a community is that we come together despite differences, united by compassion, dignity, and truth.

💭 A Personal Note from me (Bev)
This is just my opinion, but I believe until we as a country learn how to coexist with people who hold opposing views, the division will keep growing. And that division is like a cancer eating away at us.

We have a choice: we can either come together, agree to disagree, and still hold on to our humanity… or we can continue to nurture division, which only leads to more violence and death.

I know where I stand, on the side of compassion, dignity, and the belief that every human life matters.

At the end of the day, our focus remains what it has always been, which is fighting for patients who are abandoned, stigmatized, or denied care.

💙 Thank you for standing with us. Your support here on Patreon makes it possible for us to keep doing this work, even when it’s hard.

Hey everyone — just a quick heads-up:

We’re planning to go live at 4:30 PM EST for our July Wrap-Up, but our local weather is causing unstable Wi-Fi. If the stream cuts out or we can’t go live here as planned:

👉 Head to Claudia’s TikTok (@cmerandi1) — we’ll switch over and go live there instead.

The Doctor Patient Forum - Don't Punish Pain

Why are pain patients treated like criminals… while people in addiction treatment are praised as brave?

It’s not just stigma. It’s a system — one that quietly decided who “deserves” compassion, who gets punished, and who’s allowed to need medication.

🎥 I just dropped a new video breaking this down, and it’s free for everyone (even if you’re not a paid patron).

👇 Watch it here on Patreon:
