I reside in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), South Africa, a small coastal city right on the southern tip of Africa.
Here, on this channel, you will find just plain old me. Nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary, just what life entails living woman alone and all the challenges that comes with that.
I am passionate about animals, food, gardening, my house, etc.
In constant battle with myself to try and grow old gracefully.

R.I.P. Ginger
She was my Buff Orpington hen.
She passed away last night in the coop surrounded by Lavender, Klossie and Hani the rooster. If you only had 5 chickens to begin with, losing two leaves such a void.

I don't know what to say. Disaster struck my chicken children. Saturday morning I woke up to a very sick Raven, my black Orpington chicken. She died last night.
Ginger cannot walk.
Lavender has 'wry neck'. Neorological damage, so the neck and head gets twisted.
Klossie has a head and wing jerk.
It looks like Newcastle disease. No treatment. It is horrible to see.
Duck can get it as well although more resistent. I might lose them too.
What brought it here? I have no idea.
My heart is in pieces and I am sad.
I promised myself I am not replacing any animal that dies. It is just leaving such a huge void.
