Authentically Redeemed, Mentally Restored.

Real talk about mental health for those caught between faith and doubt.

ARMR Collective

Breaking free from a designer Jesus isn't easy—it means confronting the parts of Scripture that make us squirm, seeking community that challenges our blind spots, and examining why certain teachings make us uncomfortable.

But the real Jesus—in all His challenging, uncomfortable, counter-cultural glory—offers a freedom, joy, and purpose that no comfortable creation ever could.

The surrender isn't about restriction. It's about discovering the life you were created for.

Which of these steps feels most challenging to you?

I realized something uncomfortable recently: I'd been worshipping a Jesus I created—not the real one. 😳

We all do this. We craft comfortable versions of Jesus that never challenge our pet sins or disrupt our status quo.

But here's the hard truth: a Jesus who never challenges us can never transform us.

The REAL Jesus—the one who flipped tables AND touched lepers, who called out Pharisees AND embraced outcasts—is far more beautiful and powerful than any version we could design.

Which designer Jesus have you created? The Affirming Buddy? The Prosperity Promise-Maker? The Political Ally?

Happy World Mental Health Day 💙

Let's talk about the lies the church has told us about mental health—and what Scripture ACTUALLY says.

LIE #1: "Mental illness means weak faith."
TRUTH: Elijah, David, and even Jesus experienced deep anguish. Faith and mental health struggles coexist.

LIE #2: "Medication is giving up on God."
TRUTH: James 5:14 mentions prayer AND oil (medicine). God works through treatment.

LIE #3: "Real Christians don't get depressed"
TRUTH: Jesus said "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death" (Mark 14:34). If Jesus felt this, so can you.

LIE #4: "Therapy is for people without God."
TRUTH: Proverbs repeatedly emphasizes the wisdom of seeking counsel. Therapy is biblical.

LIE #5: "If you pray enough, it'll go away."
TRUTH: Paul prayed three times for healing. God said "My grace is sufficient" (2 Cor 12:9). Sometimes the answer is presence, not removal.

Mental illness is not a spiritual failure. It's a human experience in a broken world.
You are not broken. You are not faithless. You are not alone.

If you're struggling today, know this: Your mental health struggles don't disqualify your faith. They make you human.

And God is with you in it. 💙

This might sound harsh, but hear me out:

Self-punishment isn't humility. It's a form of pride.

When we say "I can't forgive myself," we're really saying: My opinion of me matters more than God's declaration about me.

When we say "I need to earn forgiveness," we're really saying: What Christ did on the cross wasn't sufficient. My suffering needs to be added to His.

When we say "I need to feel bad to prove I'm sorry," we're really saying: My feelings matter more than His finished work.

I know we don't FEEL prideful when we're beating ourselves up. We feel humble, guilty, remorseful.

But refusing a gift because we didn't earn it? That's not humility. That's pride dressed up as self-awareness.

Grace = receiving what we don't deserve

Christ didn't die for us because we deserved it. He died for us BECAUSE we didn't deserve it.

Stop refusing the gift He already gave.

Let's talk about the two types of rumination keeping you stuck 🔄

I used to think I was "processing" or "figuring things out." Turns out, I was just driving in circles in the parking lot.

Past rumination = replaying failures, beating yourself up, refusing to move forward

Present rumination = decision paralysis, analyzing every angle, trying to control outcomes through perfect choices
Both have the same problem: we're trying to maintain control instead of trusting God.

We can't THINK our way to forgiveness—we have to ACCEPT it. We can't THINK our way to certainty—we have to TRUST God's leading.

Rumination keeps us stuck. Trust sets us free.

Remember when it was okay to admit you didn't know something?

Now we're expected to have instant, confident opinions on every complex issue. But wisdom says there's strength in uncertainty, growth in admitting we might be wrong.

Intellectual humility isn't weakness—it's the foundation of real learning and authentic faith.

What if we made "I don't know" acceptable again?

Ever feel like you don't fit into any political box? Like your views are too nuanced for today's tribal world?

You're not alone in feeling alone.

The middle ground has become no man's land. When you think for yourself on complex issues, you often end up politically homeless - attacked by both extremes for not being "pure" enough.

But what if intellectual independence was actually a strength, not a weakness?
What if we created communities where nuanced thinking was welcomed instead of punished?

New post alert: When Sexuality Becomes Identity 📝

Last week I wrote about modern idolatry - how we place good things above God. This week, I'm diving into what might be the biggest idol in Western culture.

This isn't about politics or taking sides. It's about the identity crisis affecting ALL of us - and how we can find freedom when we stop building our identity around sexuality and start finding it in Christ.

Whether you're struggling with questions about sexuality, hurt by how some Christians have handled these topics, or just want a different perspective on this conversation - this one's for you.

I'm hoping this creates space for the discussions we should have been having all along 💙
