Hello fellas, a bit of an important message down below. Normally I leave the more serious stuff for my other socials, but I felt a string of tweets wouldn't cut it so I'll just lay it all out here.
First of: if you're reading this, chances are you've been with the channel for quite some time now. It's been a while since I've consistently put out some stuff, but I've been trying to get back into that rhythm over the last two months or so. Alongside the usual low-effort meme slop, I've been working on some larger and more ambitious stuff. I'll just say it up front: it still needs some time before I'll be able to share it to the public, so sit tight. That said, I'm happy to see so many of you still sticking around after more than a year of content drought. Always makes my day to see people enjoying the stuff I make. Thank you for that.
With that out of the way, I'll get into the real reason for this post.
If you've been active in this community at all, you probably know where this is headed: Teruyuki Kagawa. People such as Snow, Tybell, Kamaro, and many others have already spoken up about the matter, and so have I (at least on Twitter). Due to recent developments and other creators sharing it on bigger platforms I think it's my duty as a decently-sized creator (even though I'm just a shitposter) to share my thoughts over here. I urge others to do the same.
Like most fans, I'm really looking forward to Kiwami 3. The original Yakuza 3 was and still is one of my favourite RGG entries to date. Seeing it remade with a modern vision is something I've wanted for quite some time now. Sure, there are other titles that deserve more attention, but that doesn't mean I am against this one.
As we've seen with recent games, casting well-known actors in RGG titles has become a staple, and Kiwami 3 is no exception. Personally, I didn't care much about the recasts of characters like Rikiya or Nakahara. Hamazaki, though, is a different story. It's not that I'm upset they recast him. It's who they recast him with.
If you haven't heard: RGG hired Teruyuki Kagawa in the role of the next Hamazaki. Basically he's a well-known Japanese actor who was pushed out of the spotlight for a while due to a sexual misconduct and harassment scandal involving two women. The case was settled out of court, only resulting in a half-hearted apology to just one of the victims. In other words: a slap on the wrist, and then right back to business as usual.
As if I couldn't be any more clearer: I do not support this casting one bit. Call me a Woke Baka Gaijin or whatever, doesn't matter and I do not care. A series like Yakuza, which is known for portraying strong moral and ethical themes, has no business giving a platform to an unpunished and unrepentant sex pest like Kagawa. RGG has fired people for less, and seeing how this is being swept under the rug, I'm genuinely starting to question where the studio's priorities lie.
As of writing this on 9 October 2025, not a single statement has been made by anyone involved with the game. What's worse is that key RGG devs and spokespersons like Ryosuke Horii are actively filtering out or hiding messages related to the topic on social media. Official RGG posts on Instagram and Twitter, from both the Japanese and English side, are quietly getting deleted when too many #REMOVEKAGAWA comments show up. They know what's happening and they're trying to suppress it.
Unfortunately, Japan has a very different approach to handling sexual harassment cases such as these. It's often brushed off and not taken as seriously as it should be. Instances such as these happen more often than they should. By raising my voice, I'm not trying to take away the game from you or impose any political values on someone. I'm trying to do what I think is the right thing. Something way too many are willing to turn a blind eye to.
This series helped me through one of the toughest times in my life. To see all that goodwill tossed aside in favour of one jackass who probably only sees an easy paycheck in this game, makes me feel ashamed of calling myself a Yakuza fan.
At this point, I don't think they're going to remove him. The writing's on the wall. Sega would rather play dumb than to own up to their mistake and risk losing face. I'm not calling for a boycott. I'm not telling you to go harass the devs. But I am asking you to make any discomfort with this decision known. Speak up, loudly and respectfully. Even if they don't replace Kagawa, maybe it'll prevent something like this from happening again in the future.
To be clear: I won't ever hate RGG, Yokoyama, Horii, or anyone else involved with this decision. This is a series that has changed my life for the better. I'll keep playing and covering their games. Yes, even Kiwami 3. Does not mean I will ever be okay with someone like Kagawa being tied to a series that means so much to me. Fuck that.
So I don't know how I only became aware of this recently, but apparently someone on Tiktok, who also goes by the name Judgement Kazzy, got exposed some time ago for doing some questionable stuff online. Some people seem to mix us up because of how similar our names are. So just to clarify some things: THE GUY TIK TOK IS NOT ME. My sincerest apologies for not addressing this earlier. Stay safe out there.
In case you're wondering, yes, I will also be uploading my fair share of Like a Dragon: Ishin coverage in the coming days just like the rest of the community.
Will there be spoilers in my footage? Probably, yes. When this is the case, I'll put a warning in the beginning of the video and will not be including any spoilers in the title or thumbnail. (except for that one particular ryuji qte, you know why)
Anyways, to those of you who will be playing the game, have fun with it! To those of you who aren't going to or simply aren't able to play it, stay safe out there.
