We've been a little quiet lately… ✈️
Some of you may have noticed there hasn't been much happening on Darren Edwards Aviation over the last few weeks.
If I'm being truthful, I've lost a bit of my drive with the photography, videos and social media lately. I've been struggling with my mental health for quite a long time, and more recently I've found it increasingly difficult to find the motivation to pick up the camera or sit down and edit, even though aviation has been a huge part of my life for years.
Then over the last few days everything else had to take a back seat when Lucas became unwell and we ended up spending a few days together in hospital.
Thankfully he's back home now and doing much better, which is the most important thing. ❤️
Anyone who's followed my aviation adventures for a while will probably recognise Lucas. He's spent countless hours alongside me on Welsh hillsides, radios on and cameras ready, waiting for that next aircraft to appear — as well as plenty of hours when absolutely nothing turns up! 😂
This photo brings back some great memories of exactly that.
I've realised recently that perhaps I've put too much pressure on myself to keep producing new photos and videos. I've got years' worth of photographs and footage that I've never shared, so perhaps it's time to start going back through some of those memories as well, without putting pressure on myself to constantly create something new.
Hopefully it won't be too long before Lucas and I are back on a Welsh hillside again — not because we need to get photographs or make a video, but simply because we enjoy being there. Enjoying the views, radios on, cameras ready and waiting to hear something coming down the valley. ✈️🏔️

An F-15E wearing F-111-inspired camouflage—there’s a story behind this Eagle. 🇺🇸✈️

Banked over through the Mach Loop, this RAF Lakenheath Strike Eagle shows off a heritage scheme marking the 40th anniversary of Operation El Dorado Canyon, the 1986 air strikes on Libya.

Its “Karma 52” markings honour the F-111F and its crew, Captain Fernando Ribas-Dominicci and Captain Paul Lorence, who were lost during the operation. A striking scheme with a meaningful tribute behind it.

Today, I just wanted to take a moment to remember our beautiful dog, Shyla. ❤️🐾

Two years ago today, my Mach Loop companion crossed the rainbow bridge. Over the years, she appeared in many of my photos while out on the hills with me watching aircraft through the Mach Loop.

The memories we made together — the fresh air, the sound of jets echoing through the valleys, and the time spent together — are moments I’ll always treasure.

The children were also lucky enough to share many special moments with her, and she’ll always be a huge part of our lives.

Today is simply about remembering a very special girl. ✈️❤️
