After watching Evil Dead 2013 the other night, after having not seen it for quite a while, I've come to a new conclusion (or revised, I should say) about the 'newer' Evil Dead films: Evil Dead Rise is the best of the three. For a long time, I put 2013 on a high pedestal above Rise, but after seeing Burn, and after that 2013 rewatch, I have to give it up for Rise. I know a lot of you aren't with me on this, but I love the 'new' era of Evil Dead (the 2013-present era). Do I love it as much as the original era? I'm not sure. But, there has been a lot of cool expansions on the lore, and I am happy that all of the Evil Dead films connect to one another (all six films exist in the same canon; these are not two separate timelines). With that said, however, there is one thing about the 'old' era of Evil Dead that I do miss, and I wish the new era has carried it over. And that's the CREATURES; those zany, cartoony abominations that weren't always even necessarily human. The newer films simply don't have these things, and they were so much a part of the brand of Evil Dead that it feels slightly empty without them. Technically, they were all still deadites, but deadites turned up to the extreme. I miss those things. #EvilDead #Deadites #Horror #EvilDeadBurn #TobattoVision
