Dear Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji,

I write this letter with profound respect, humility, and hope. As a citizen who has had the privilege of serving the Government of India, I understand the immense responsibility that rests upon your shoulders. Every day, millions of Indians place their trust in the institutions of our nation, believing that justice, fairness, and opportunity will always prevail. Today, I write not in criticism, but in earnest hope, on behalf of countless students, parents, and citizens whose voices deserve to be heard.

Sir, for several days now, students have been peacefully protesting at Jantar Mantar, seeking justice and reassurance about their future. Alongside them, Shri Sonam Wangchuk ji has undertaken a hunger strike. As each day passes, concerns about his health continue to grow, reminding us all that this is no longer merely an issue of policy, but also one of humanity and compassion. At the same time, the recent examination controversies, including the NEET paper leak, have caused immense distress to lakhs of hardworking students and their families. For many young people, these examinations are not just tests. They represent years of sacrifice, relentless hard work, and dreams of building a better future.

Hon'ble Prime Minister, India's greatest strength is its youth. Every student who studies late into the night, every parent who makes sacrifices to educate their child, and every teacher who nurtures young minds contributes to the nation's future. When their faith in the fairness of the system is shaken, it is not merely an examination that is affected. It is the confidence of an entire generation. We humbly appeal to you to kindly take cognizance of these concerns, ensure complete accountability wherever wrongdoing has occurred, and strengthen the systems that safeguard merit, transparency, and justice. Such action will not only resolve the present concerns but also restore the confidence of millions of young Indians.
Sir, under your leadership, India has emerged with renewed confidence on the global stage. We believe that a truly developed India is one where every deserving student can dream without fear, compete with fairness, and succeed through honest effort. We have immense faith that your leadership will ensure that the aspirations of our youth remain protected and that compassion, justice, and accountability continue to guide the nation's progress.

This is not merely an appeal for today's students. It is an appeal for the future of India. We remain hopeful that this moment will become an opportunity to reinforce the values that make our democracy strong and our nation resilient.

SHAME ON ALL OF US.

It is heartbreaking that a man who has spent decades protecting Ladakh, its fragile ecology, and India's strategic frontier is once again risking his own health just to be heard. Instead of listening, many have chosen to ridicule him, abuse him, and dismiss him with labels. When did empathy become weakness? When did asking difficult questions become an act of betrayal?

Every great nation is built not only by those who govern but also by those who have the courage to speak uncomfortable truths. History remembers its visionaries long after governments change. Democracies become stronger when they listen to voices of conscience, not when those voices are mocked, ignored, or turned into political targets.

Whether you agree with every demand made by Sonam Wangchuk is not the point. A man willing to sacrifice his comfort, his health, and his personal freedom for what he believes is in the nation's long term interest deserves to be heard with dignity. Leaders with credibility, integrity, and moral courage are rare. They should be valued, not vilified.

The greatest tragedy is not that one man continues to protest. The greatest tragedy is that millions have become silent spectators. Governments must listen. Citizens must think for themselves. If we respond to sacrifice with abuse and to conscience with cynicism, then the question is no longer about Sonam Wangchuk.

The question is about us.

China's latest warning on water should be understood as more than a diplomatic statement. It reflects the growing role of natural resources in strategic competition.
Victor Gao argued that if India uses water as leverage against Pakistan, China also possesses the ability to influence rivers originating in Tibet. The remark comes at a time when India has kept the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance following the Pahalgam terror attack and continues to reassess its security posture.
The larger question, however, is whether Beijing follows the same principles that it advocates.
China has not entered into comprehensive water sharing arrangements with most downstream countries that depend on rivers originating on the Tibetan Plateau. On the Mekong, Beijing's extensive dam infrastructure has long raised concerns among downstream states over water flow, ecological balance, agriculture, fisheries, and regional livelihoods. While China argues that these projects are meant for development and flood management, several independent studies suggest they have altered seasonal river patterns and increased the dependence of downstream countries on upstream decisions.
This illustrates an enduring reality of geopolitics. States rarely separate strategic interests from critical natural resources. Water, like energy, technology, and maritime routes, has become an instrument of national power.
For India, the debate is not about weaponising water. It is about recognising that control over upstream resources creates strategic leverage. Any policy concerning transboundary rivers must therefore balance international obligations, national security, environmental sustainability, and long term regional stability.
The real lesson is that narratives often differ from state behaviour. Great powers frequently advocate universal principles while preserving maximum strategic flexibility for themselves. Understanding that gap is essential for analysing international politics through the lens of interests rather than rhetoric.
