Hey guys! After a long and stressful debate with just myself (literally inside my own head) I have decided to not post short form content aka shorts. I have also removed all of my short form content from this channel. Will this be a forever thing? Maybe, maybe not... but for now I sure do hope so.
It's been a constant battle for me deciding whether I put energy into creating these short form videos. On one hand, short form content enables you to reach a wider audience quicker. You can quickly gain a higher sub count and achieve all the 'vanity' metrics. On the other hand, short form content is usually low quality, 'fast food' content, and doesn't let me truly express myself creatively.
There are of course channels that produce extremely high quality shorts (think cooking channels), but from my experience most of it is brain rot. I also recently watched a video on how short form content loops you in and keeps you in constant emotional warfare as every short form video tries to get a reaction out of you.
I've realized that my attention span, my overall EQ and IQ, have only gotten worse since short form content has become the norm. I have also stressed a lot over feeling like I may fall behind if I don't follow this trend. However, after much thought I realize that I no longer want to consume this content and no longer want to contribute to this mass media machine.
