Home to the audio visual world of Flying Nun Records. New Zealand and Independent, with music videos, live clips, interviews and much more.
A lot of these videos feature the bands "performing" direct to camera (with and without makeup), several of them have driving motifs, and plenty of 'em were made with extremely limited resources. Both new and old clips, with all the fun times captured and presented in a user friendly format (often 3 minutes or less) while our test audiences have found the cameo-spotting to be an excellent source of enjoyment - not to mention the memories that were evoked upon viewing some of the rarer material.

THE CLEAN BOOK RELEASE EVENTS!!!
The Clean profoundly changed alternative music: hitting the New Zealand charts for months with a single made for $50, ‘Tally Ho!’; helping establish Flying Nun and a music scene independent of the big labels; pioneering a low-fi, do-it-yourself approach to rock music; and touring internationally to influence bands like Pavement and Yo La Tengo.
Raw and immediate, this is the story as told by members of The Clean and their inner circle – fellow musicians such as Chris Knox, Martin Phillipps, Graeme Downes and Ira Kaplan, friends and family, pub promoters and sound engineers, and their good friend, Richard Langston. From teenagers in a Dunedin practice room to New York City on 9/11 – this is the band’s history as it unfolds.
The Clean: In the Dreamlife You Need a Rubber Soul

SURPRISE! Out today is a musical match from above, Shayne Carter and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. www.flyingnun.co.nz/products/shayne-p-carter-with-…
REforms is a retrospective of Carter’s songs (with one new composition) orchestrated with Tane Upjohn-Beatson and recorded with the NZSO.
The album originated from Carter’s collaborative concerts with the NZSO, where he curated a programme of his favourite classical works for the first half and then played a selection of his own songs with the orchestra for the second. That concert was itself the result of his intensive exploration of classical music leading up to his 2016 album Offsider, made up of piano-based songs, all written as he learnt the instrument from scratch.
