I smoked so much strong cannabis in 2005 that I ended up in prison with a drug induced psychosis. Twenty years on I can see that it wasn’t the cannabis but it was me. I was susceptible to psychosis because of my underlying, undiagnosed mental health conditions.
It will effect people in different ways. I am chill enough about it now to be a ‘live and let live’ proponent of weed use. People should be made aware of the dangers and if you suspect that you might be self medicating an underlying mental health condition then it is best to ease up if you can before you rush headlong into psychosis.
It is an addictive substance and if you are a habitual user then you are addicted. You will know whether you are addicted if you react with anger when you can’t get hold of any. If you can go abstinent for a long time and not agitate and yearn for the high then chances are that you might be ok but it is very common to be addicted without knowing it.
