John Coltrane’s residency at the Village Gate began on August 8, 1961 - 61 years ago.

Recordings of the performances were discovered at the New York Public Library in 2023, recorded by engineer Rich Alderson as part of a test of the club's new sound system.

Evenings at the Village Gate: John Coltrane with Eric Dolphy presents these previously unheard recordings for the first time.
