Want to share one story from my job as Project Manager at MNC, my boss asked me to do crashing to meet the timeline.
Those who are not aware about "What is Crashing", please refer my next post.
So basically we were delayed in project by 2 weeks due to unforeseen circumstances. And now to recover either we can do Fast tracking or Crashing.
So many of the seniors think that if there is work to be completed by 1 person in 10 days, if we put 2 people then it will reduce to 5 days.

Let's take example of Software Programming in Python, 1 Module per hour by 1 programmer. Now If I am adding one more programmer, It may increase the rate and it will be 1.75 Modules/hour. (0.75 module increase by 2nd programmer).
And then let say I am adding 3rd programmer, so It will be increase the speed of programming to 2.25 modules/hour. (increase of 0.5 module increase). This disparity is due to many factors i.e Coordination, communication etc.

So it is never true that you add more number of workers, and it will reduce the equivalent amount in project.

The same is true with the life as well. In life, overworking yourself without strategic breaks often results in reduced productivity and burnout.

Similarly, in project management, throwing endless resources at a problem without addressing the root cause rarely leads to success.
๐Ÿ”‘ Key Insight: Sometimes, less is more. Focused effort, prioritization, and strategic pauses can yield far better results than relentless, inefficient effort.
๐Ÿ’ก Life Hack: Treat your energy like a finite resource. Know when to push, when to pause, and when to pivot.

This I am following in Projects : Optimize resources, streamline processes, and avoid overloading teamsโ€”itโ€™s about working smarter, not harder.

So are you prioritizing the right tasks in your life or projects? Share your experiences where youโ€™ve overcome diminishing returns!
