Just a reminder for those of you in the UK, I am giving a face-to-face lecture on the 31st of October (Halloween) on English funerary and burial practices. This is a fundraiser for St Mary's church in Broughton, and all are most welcome to attend and I'd love to see you there. The location is in north Lincolnshire, just off the M180 - so it is very well connected. Further details can be found on this poster and at the link below. I'm hoping we might be able to livestream the lecture, or at least record it so that it can be shared on the channel. fb.me/e/3BTvoQ5Wa

Thank you to everyone who has ordered this year’s calendar on pre-order. We’ve now received them from the printer and they are spectacular. We are now busy packing up existing orders, but please bear with us. This work will take a few days as there’s only Claire and I to do it - we are a very small enterprise. If you’d like a calendar, we do still have some left, but they are going quickly! theantiquary.online/product/2026-antiquary-calenda…

Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered a 2026 Antiquary wall calendar. If you would like one get in quick, as they have been flying like hotcakes and I only have a very limited print run. theantiquary.online/product/2026-antiquary-calenda…

The first orders will be sent out in the middle of October. This year the calendar features images from ‘Spinola’ Book of Hours in the Getty collection, showing the Medieval Year, depicted through the popular theme of the 'labours of the months'. Printed in A4 format on 170gsm silk paper and spiral bound, it comes in a white card envelope with a historical note on the history and significance of this extraordinary Book of Hours. I am only offering a very limited print run, and last year they disappeared very quickly!

USA TARIFFS. Just a quick update for USA magazine subscribers and purchasers. We can confirm that we are still able to post to the USA in light of the new tariffs. It took Royal Mail a few weeks to sort out a system that works, but it is now up and running. Royal Mail are now charging a handling fee before we send items out, and we are currently absorbing the cost of this. As we have had to wait for Royal Mail to sort this out, posting this month's issue of the magazine has been delayed by a week. However, September's issue has now been sent out to all subscribers. From next month, normal service will resume!

Today is the funeral of the late Duchess of Kent - a woman who quietly supported her husband the duke and served this country with grace and with humility. May she rest in peace. After her funeral in Westminster Cathedral this afternoon, she will be buried at the royal burial ground at Frogmore, alongside her parents-in-law and other members of the extended royal family. In this video, I explore both the history of this burial ground in the context of the Windsor Great Park and the lives of those who are buried there.

The Antiquary magazine website is up and running again after a bit of a technical glitch - a gremlin (or was it a boggart) appears to have got into the system. The developers managed to eventually tempt it out. If you've been waiting to subscribe, you can do so via: theantiquary.online/ We have also been unable to send out back issues for the last couple of weeks too. In addition, because such troubles come in threes, Royal Mail had stopped postage to the USA ahead of the abolition tomorrow of the 'de minimis' customs rules. GOOD NEWS THOUGH - We will be able to post things out once again from tomorrow!!! Thanks to those of you who have been waiting very patiently for magazines to arrive.

My apologies to anyone who has tried to subscribe to the Antiquary this week - the website is having a bit of a technical wobble. Something that happens to me with some frequency! Anyway, the developers are on to it, and things should be up and running ASAP. Thanks for your patience, as the gremlins are ejected!
