Should Papua New Guinea Ban TikTok?
Here are five reasons why banning TikTok might be worth considering:
TikTok is a Chinese-owned company. While it profits from its presence in PNG, local creators aren’t able to monetize their content. Why does our government allow this imbalance?
As a concerned father, I believe that TikTok could be shaping the mindsets of future generations in a way that benefits foreign interests, potentially weakening our economy in the long run.
Many PNGeans use TikTok irresponsibly, posting content that doesn’t reflect well on our country.
TikTok’s popularity has many young people focused more on gaining online fame than on their studies, risking their future.
Overall, TikTok doesn’t appear to bring any lasting benefits, only potential harm to the mindset of future generations.
