In a change of tone from my usual dark stories, I've written a tale that features the tradition of "Penny for the Guy" for Bonfire Night. The tradition involves creating "Guy" effigies of the notorious Guy Fawkes, who was caught trying to blow up Parliament in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Greetings dear listeners - I do hope you have been enjoying my first story serials - "Uncanny Uskwood". Nine episodes in, and our eponymous hero finds himself locked up in Victorian Manchester's Insane Asylum, at the hands of the diabolical Arcanum Ferro. Entrapped by the sleazy and rakish reporter, Everard Pennyman, Alaric is struggling to maintain his sanity. On top of this, Elowen Carr's son - William, aka Crick - is possessed by Drevela, the evil spirit who punishes the Industrial city's crimes against nature by taking the children of the factories and the mills. Crick is missing, the demon roaming the dark streets and alleyways in search of her next victim. She has however, paid Uskwood a visit in his cell, to offer a no doubt devilish deal...
My next episode, the tenth in this series, will be the last one (for now.) Entitled "The Dark Tidings of Christmas", it has much to resolve. As such, this is the longest video I have done so far, and it is taking a little longer than usual. I'm hopeful it will be finished soon, and as soon as it is, it will be posted for your viewing pleasure. But to whet your appetite, here's a still from the forthcoming story.
And don't worry, I'll be back with my usual blend of the dark, the emotional and - of course - the gothic, in the weeks to come. After, Halloween is not too far away...

This new series follows Alaric Uskwood – a former police inspector turned reluctant investigator of the strange and unseen.
Wounded in body and mind, marked by the horrors he cannot forget, Uskwood stalks the alleys and foundries of an industrial city choked with secrets.
