It’s been a long time in the making, but the very first official installment of the Mobile Rewind series is finally live! 📱To kick things off, we are going back to September 2012 to see if Apple’s iconic flagship — the iPhone 5 — is still even remotely usable today.

I didn't just turn it on and look at it; I spent hours testing every single app to see what happens to a 14-year-old operating system in a world without 3G networks and with completely expired security certificates. From Apple Maps and Google Maps to YouTube and the App Store, the results were definitely an adventure.

I also stack it up directly against the iPhone 4S and see how its tiny footprint compares to modern bricks like the iPhone 15 Plus.

📸Taken on iPhone 15 Plus in portrait mode. I've used an older image's background, and asked Ai to help replace it (i have too much items in my space). Added a few final touches to make it pop on socials using Photos tools on iOS.

I was surprised to see the Windows logo, given I've been at war with Microsoft over its buggy OS for so many years, but GPT said, "The Windows logo hints at your software and system-level familiarity." Fair enough 😅

TL;DR: I rewrote my Content & Review Policy so you know exactly how my reviews work and why my opinions are always my own.

I’ve had a Content & Review Policy for a while, but it was way too short and didn’t really show how I actually make content. So I updated it and made it much clearer and easier to read.

It explains how I decide what products I cover, how reviews work, and what brands can and can’t expect -- whether I bought the product myself or it was sent to me. Same rules, every time!

Why does this matter to you as a subscriber?
