And I know we've all heard it somewhere that imaginations are free
But, I think there's an hidden cost to it. First, what does imagination do to you?
For me...
- it shows me what's conceivable - it shows me what could be - it shows me what could happen
And since I'm no mediocre... When I imagine, I can let it run wilder
Then I start reverse engineering my imaginations
(1) Who do I need to be to achieve this? (2) What do I need to do to achieve this? (3) What do I need to have to achieve this? (4) Who do I need to meet to achieve this?
While answering these, I might come to see that I need:
- to get new skillsets - to get new certifications - to meet new people - to attend more events
And those right there, are what I consider the hidden costs of imagination.
I entered a long trade on Crude last Friday. The trade was an A+ setup. All my boxes were checked.
Held it over the weekend. The market opened this week and price kept dancing around a particular resistance zone.
I became a bit impatient and I justified myself with the resistance level.
So, I closed!
A few hours later, the price rallied and my profit would have doubled. But then, what if... Just what if price had gone south, I'd have closed at a loss, or at best, at break even.
Take home: Always stick to your trading rules. Everytime!

Referrals are not enough to scale your business.
After speaking to over 200 founders this year
I've come to a simple conclusion:
You won't scale on referrals alone!
If your entire client acquisition system is based on referrals
You might be hurting your own business
-> Referrals happen entirely on someone else's timeline
This makes it impossible to forecast cash flow or reliably hit your revenue goals
-> Your expansion is strictly capped
The speed at which your existing network chooses to talk about you is absolutely dependent on them - no matter the incentive you offer.
-> If a few key referrers churn or go quiet, your lead pipeline dries up overnight.
Relying on word-of-mouth locks you into your current client tier- this could make it difficult to raise prices or pivot to higher-paying markets.
-> You cannot pre-qualify inbound referrals
This frequently results in misaligned prospects who waste your valuable time.
So if you don't want to lose the ability to drive predictable growth
You need proven outbound systems to scale sustainably.
