Brothers please stop telling these women if they dislike polygyny or are unwilling participants in practicing polygyny (in many instances with you), that she has a “problem with her lord!” Or she is showing signs of disbelief or is a disbeliever. Let these women be women and be entitled to their feelings about something that, in many instances, they don’t even understand or can’t comprehend. That is spiritual abuse!!! Most women would not be willing to share their husband, and it has nothing to do with their level of faith in Allah. It has everything to do with the way they are wired (i.e. how Allah created them).
Shaykh Salih Al Fawzan was asked, “A woman hates polygyny, is this considered hating what Allah has revealed (i.e. allowed)?” The Shaykh responded, “No. unless she hates the verse where Allah says, “Marry the women of your preference; two, three or four…” then, yes, it would be considered apostasy (ridda). However, if she dislikes polygyny (itself) then it is her personal dislike of polygyny and not a hatred of the deen. This is out of her personal jealousy for polygyny, like the jealousy of any woman, and does not reach the level of apostasy (disbelief). But if she hates the Qur’an, which permits it, or hates the Prophet who permitted it, then yes, it would be considered apostasy/disbelief, without a doubt.”
