I've been getting asked to start Youtube again. It's a bit tricky. I don't really want to be associated with my old videos because I'm a boy in 90% of them. But I completely understand (and happy) that you all love them and may want to be able to go back to them. Part of me wants to start a new channel, new me, new gender, new life, hard reboot, but it's been suggested I unlist every video and start fresh here instead with a soft reboot. I'm usually a do or die girl. But currently looking for feedback.
Would you move to the new channel?
When I return I will be doing a new version of Watch Me Draw videos that will have a new format style but will feature fan-art (of the subject or of me) as well as commentary tracks over catchy music. I can't do the old format due to Youtube's algorithm. But it'll be like a mini-podcast with each drawing with me talking about what I think of the show/game that I'm drawing in the video, art theory and why I drew things a certain way and talking about technique.
I may start an In-Between Podcast, which would be bi-weekly and be recording between recordings of the Pizza Party Podcast. And while I biting off of Pan's stick, I may make review/editorial thought pieces once a month similar to Pan's videos but without you know without the desperation tones.
Ultimately I do miss Youtube, I do miss you. Both choices come with its own challenges. In the meantime, I am very active on Twitter (@ArtistIzzy) and I am a regular cast member on RebelTaxi's Pizza Party Podcast. Can't wait to hear your thoughts about this!
This is Izzy (previously StevRayBro) and I wanted to give you all an update on what has been going on behind the scenes with me and this channel. Well, in case I never announced it on here, I came out as transgender, hence the new name and new look. Transitioning in a public forum is scary so I retreated from the Youtube channel and mostly stayed in contact with fans using Tumblr and Twitter (@ArtistIzzy) and being a mainstay on the Pizza Party Podcast. Where my reaction to my new identity was mixed received.
I would be lying if that was the only reason. But I was increasingly becoming less interested in the content I was making. Art videos weren't nearly as fun as they once were and I felt more and more like I was under-delivering on them. Steven Universe vlogs were fun, but my fanbase didn't like them as much. I was too busy animating professionally to animate for fun. Which by the way, I technically worked an on a TV show property that many of you have watched but I can't say which due to contracts.
Recently I have moved into a new apartment and without fail I installed my work set up and hung up my old Youtube 100k subs plague and got nostalgic. Starting up a new channel sounds amazing, but I don't know if or when I will be ready for that. To be very fair, I also want to start a comic. And I know my intentions are too divided as is. I would love to hear from you all again.
