TLDR means "too long; didn't read". It can be used in two main ways: as a response to a lengthy text, indicating it was ignored due to its length, or as a label provided by the author to introduce a brief summary of a longer piece of content.

As a summary

• What it is: An abbreviation used at the beginning or end of a long text to provide a quick summary of the main points.
• Purpose: To be respectful of the reader's time, allowing them to quickly grasp the core information without reading the entire text.
• Example: An email could start with "TL;DR: The meeting is rescheduled to Friday at 2 PM. All other details remain the same," followed by the rest of the original message.

As a response

• What it is: An expression used to comment on a post or message that is too long to read.
• Purpose: Originally, it could be a dismissive or snarky way of saying the text was not worth the time to read in full.
• Example: A person might leave a comment saying "TL;DR" on a forum post with thousands of words.
