Kyoto is live.

I first came here 20 years ago, before Instagram and before social media changed the way we travelled.

This time I came back by motorcycle, revisited some familiar places, finally made it to Kinkaku-ji, then kept riding north into a very different side of Kyoto — through Kifune, the mountains, Maizuru and eventually the Sea of Japan coast.
