Who is Boy Golden? On the one hand it is moniker for a mysterious new artist, who is building buzz following major support for track "KD and Lunch Meat" from his debut album which hit #1 atAlternative radio in home country of Canada, and major moments including debut at Bonnaroo, and opening for Jason Isbell, MJ Lenderman, and Joshua Ray Walker.
On the other hand, Boy Golden is also a conduit for songwriter Liam Duncan—a persona that allows him to create honestly and freely. For Duncan, Boy Golden grants access to an inner world only reachable through music. His three previous albums—For Eden (wistful), For Jimmy(rollicking), and the lemon-yellow-leisure-suited Church of Better Daze—served as a psychic clearing for Best of Our Possible Lives.
Boy Golden states “The lines between him and I are soluble... Whether it is my spiritual beliefs, my way of living, my sexuality-it comes up in my writing and I am then forced to reckon with it.”

we've played so many incredible shows this year - great support slots and great festivals and the band is sounding the best we’ve maybe ever sounded. to add to that, it’s been so much fun putting out Best of Our Possible Lives and seeing that become a part of people’s lives. It’s going to be so exciting to play these songs for you as part of this show that we’ve been crafting <3
also - to add some gorgeous gorgeous vibes and songs to the tour, @fieldguidemusic will be supporting the entire Canadian part of the tour. Which absolutely rocks. putting out a new single - called Pity - on September 10th! this song has long been a favourite of mine and was nearly included on Best of Our Possible Lives, but ultimately it didn’t make the cut.
Still, I wanted to give it some love, so I’m putting it out as a single. Doubled 12-strings, fretless bass, austy P guitar (and drum) wizardry, and Fontine on the bgs… perfect. can wait to put it out! <3

what a weekend! Saw @fontinemusic766 rock Winnipeg Folk Fest’s main stage on Thursday, accompanied by Austy, Corey and many of our friends, then a quick, hot rip down to Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Country Club Festival, and then an even hotter rip back to Winnipeg in our van with AC not really working, where I got sing some Neil Young at Winnipeg Folk, accompanied by Dani!
Sheesh! Time for a few days rest… stay cool yall my house is currently 30 degrees.
