My heart is full of love, appreciation, and gratitude after completing my most ambitious artistic endeavor yet. After 25 years, I reunited the fan favorite iteration of Chaka Khan's background singers Sandra St. Victor, Audrey Wheeler-Downing, and Karen Bernod to not only to recreate their iconic blend, but to teach it to the next generation of young singers with Darian Parham.
With the support of legendary instrumentalist Bette Sussm, Ralph Rolle, Felicia M Collins, under the direction of Melvin Lee Davis we spent 2 days together to discover and put the elements that define the "Chaka Sound" and present it in a live workshop.
This endeavor pushed me out of my comfort zone as a film director and producer, and it made me reflect on how I work and how I want to keep getting better.
The entire process was captured and will be made into a documentary set for release in the coming months!
