The name's Crispy Toast, one of the well-known Gmodders and content creators on YouTube. For over 10 years, I've been on the platform delivering the best content that this channel has to offer.

If you like my content, be sure to like, share, favorite, and subscribe to my channel.

Crispy Toast

Hey guys, it's me.

Typically, I post art and upcoming videos in the community tab, but I rarely do those anymore. In fact, it is more than just content blocks. I apologize for not doing much on this YouTube channel lately; I have something to say.

I am retiring from YouTube.

Yeah...

I ran this channel in late January 2009 and have been posting GMOD Animation content. It kicked off ever since I participated in one of ARMaster's legendary memes, "Scout is Delicious." "Scout Is Boo" is how my journey as a GMOD animator began. It also brought a couple of very well-known videos, such as "Luigi's Night at Freddy's" and "Donkey Kong: The BLU Heist." Those were quite memorable, and people still remember them today! If I am not mistaken, they even got their mention on TVTropes. I eventually reached the 100,000 subscriber threshold and received my very own Silver Play Button. Crispy Toast Productions has left a fascinating legacy on YouTube.

But good things do not last forever.

The reason is that I am losing interest in YouTube content creation for a couple of reasons. And I am going to be very honest with you all. YouTube has worsened over the years due to its enshittification. Life can get in the way and easily burn me out most of the time. And due to the current events, I have to deal with all of these. And it is not just life in general, but the algorithm has gotten so horrible that it recommends propaganda, AI slop, and anything else harmful. Not to mention that the whole "ID verification" system is plaguing and forcing people to cough up their IDs to use not just YouTube, but also social media. It has gotten so bad that YouTube may no longer be a place for creators - including artists, musicians, video editors, and other inspiring creators.

I am one of the people affected by the dwindling views and engagement. It does not matter if I put much effort into making videos—the algorithm always recommends slop, propaganda, and other low-effort trash. It is like YouTube wants us to watch videos that make us dumber.

As for me and this channel, the last hurrah is to reach 400k subscribers while I announce my retirement. I know it is not much, but getting a gold play button is impossible now. But I do not care about that button anyway.

You may be wondering if there are alternatives to YouTube, and there are. Unfortunately, most of them had little potential and became overshadowed by YouTube. Not to mention that conspiracy nutjobs and bigots are ruining what could have been the next platform to go to. It is all fun and games until these nutjobs come spouting out disgusting rhetoric and give these platforms a bad name and scare away actual content creators.

Many of you might ask, "What is the future of Crispy Toast Productions now that the channel is retired?" Well, I'll still be around. As you all know, I draw a lot of art in my spare time and on art commissions. The question is, "When will Crispy Toast return to YouTube?" Well, only time will tell.

I plan to introduce my videos on Newgrounds soon, as a compilation to introduce them to the new generation. GMOD Animation is also acceptable on Newgrounds, as it is considered an unusual medium. In the meantime, I want to explore different media and upload them to Newgrounds to see if something stands out. I like to experiment with things - mostly 2D Animation. That kind of stuff has been overdue, and I fear missing out. And as much as I am reluctant to say this, I returned to Instagram after a hiatus. I know that place is terrible, but it is what it is. I see a lot of artists still using that platform regardless of the recent stupid changes. I have Bluesky if you all want to follow me there.

I still have my Discord server, and if you are interested, you can join.

For those who are unaware, I have an Odysee account. Before YouTube pulled the plug on that feature (stupid jerks...), I already imported my videos from this channel to my Odysee channel. So, if, for whatever reason, my channel gets taken out of YouTube, my Odysee channel can be used as a backup channel.

So yeah, I am retiring from YouTube for now, but I am sticking around. You will find me posting on Newgrounds, Instagram, and Bluesky, and I am learning new things along the way. But I don't know if I want to come back. YouTube's enshittification is much worse than ever and will never improve. But we will see.

The channel had a good run, but channels like this do not last forever...

Goodbye, for now.

You might be wondering, "What's changed?" I'd put together a pretty cheap infographic about it. Sorry if it felt a little rushed. Heh.

Happy to report that I managed to get everything filmed. Now I have to edit!

Anyway, here is a few art pieces I've made.

Regarding the video update, I would say that it is about around between 25% to 40%. In the meantime, enjoy a bundle of art!

I'm kinda burned out from making Garry's Mod video recently. X_X; If you have some suggestions, I'd be glad to try. But I like to ask a question... Which one of the contents would you like to see the most? There are no wrong answers.

Hey everyone! Sorry, I haven't been uploading many Gmod videos recently. I have been busy with art commissions and life in general. Plus, I have been learning a couple of new things along the way.

To fair, I miss making longer videos. I mean, I wanted to have motivation to make videos, but with all the ugly slop happening from left to right, I feel discouraged thinking that the slop is the new norm, and entertainment may lose its meaning. Plus, life can get in the way and, of course, I forget. ~.~;

But ya know what? I make videos from scratch, and it takes time to put everything together. Recording the footage, editing with Sony Vegas Pro, finalizing the video, and then uploading. Simple as that. Slop videos made by a lot of people on YouTube? That's like they tell a robot to make something, then take it and claim that "they made it."

I will get back on my feet soon. Hopefully, I can try to keep up. If not, well, the channel had a good run anyway...
