Steven J. Thornton, MD

Dallas Orthopaedic Surgeon | Dallas Knee Surgeon

Over the last two decades, I’ve built my career around one mission: helping athletes and active individuals return to doing what they love.

I’m a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in sports medicine and a passion for minimally invasive procedures. My surgical focus includes shoulders, knees, hips, and elbows, with advanced expertise in cartilage restoration and regenerative medicine.

My journey started at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where I was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Donald Imrie Award for outstanding performance in orthopaedics. From there, I completed residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas, a fellowship in the UK at the Royal College of Surgeons, and then an elite sports medicine fellowship at Cornell’s Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, where I cared for professional athletes with the New York Giants and New York Mets.
