5 years ago today, I said goodbye to life in corporate with no backup plan and no safety net...

Here are my biggest takeaways from the last 5 years as a full-time photographer and content creator who works with global brands, tourism boards, and luxury hotels.

1. Success is not linear.

TBH I thought I’d be more “successful” by now, and I keep waiting for that breakthrough moment, but it may never come. Trusting the process has truly been a humbling experience, and it doesn’t get any easier.

2. It’s ok to accept “free” work, only if it helps advance your cause. Discernment is key here.

If you’re a regular on my page, you know I preach not accepting lowball deals or free work, but there are obviously caveats: as long as you’re getting something out of it.

3. Comparison is the thief of joy.

No two people’s paths are the same. I’ve had to mute mutuals and unfollow a lot of people I once aspired to or benchmarked myself against because it was taking a toll on my mental health. Progress should be measured internally, not externally.

4. Entrepreneurship is a lonely path.

Realistically, most people who are interested in a career doing something on their own won’t seriously pursue it.
Over the years, I’ve had many people reach out asking to “pick my brain” as they mulled over their career. Not a single one of them has made the jump.

Community is just a buzzword. Pragmatically, most relationships and interactions are transactional. That said, if you find people who align with your values and work ethic, hold on to them and cultivate those relationships.

5. Don’t take rejections personally.

This one was hard for me, and it took me a very long time to change my perspective. What ended up helping me was investing in business coaching.
In business, rejection isn’t personal (most of the time). Figure out what went wrong, recalibrate, and try again.

WTF is a cinemagraph? Are they even still relevant??

This isn’t a new concept. I used to see it more often when Instagram was still a photo-sharing platform.

Now that everything’s moved to video on social media, there hasn’t been much creativity involved in photography, but lately, I’ve been seeing a rise of “video postcards,” which are literally just static videos, so I thought, why not start posting cinemagraphs again?

I'm gonna be honest. One thing about me, I am not an early adopter.

I'm always waiting for a deal to jump on. So, I got the DJI Mic Mini for less than $80. Which is a steal, because if you know, DJI products are relatively expensive.

Then, I realized why the price was so low, because the DJI came out with the Mic 3, which is basically a combination of the DJI Mic 2 and the Mic Mini combined into one.

Finally got to meet a real Scottish Highland Cow!

Scotland is only a six-hour flight away, and what's better than 24 hours is 48 hours for the perfect weekend trip.

It’s just far enough to feel like you’ve gone somewhere completely different, but close enough for a spontaneous escape.

In this video, I document my travels over 3 days exploring Glasgow, Edinburgh, and the Scottish Highlands, only using public transportation.

My first flight sitting in Business Class!

I always thought I’d be lowkey and chill about sitting in business class for the first time, but I decided I’m gonna be so cringe about it because this is something to be proud of! I’m celebrating this one.
