I just wrote this for a class, and I felt like sharing it. This is were I stand, supporting I.C.E. is unacceptable.

Should I.C.E. Be Melted?

ICE is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security. It was created in 2003 to enforce immigration laws and combat transnational crimes. They are investigating cross-border crimes such as smuggling, human trafficking, and national security threats. Now the real question is, “Is the I.C.E. agency constitutional?” The I.C.E. agency is an unconstitutional use of government due to the violations of the amendments, the death rates, aggressive policies, and unregulated searches.
According to the First Amendment of the Constitution, “the right of the people peaceably to assemble” is a permitted right. Compared to this amendment, I.C.E. has continuously broken these laws by attending protests and shooting at protesters. Along with the “6 deaths in ICE custody and 2 fatal shootings,” I.C.E. has spied on and captured protesters of color, including Latinos, Black immigrants, and Mexicans. According to Ilse Ramirez, an author at the American Immigration Council, “January 2026 saw a shocking number of deaths tied to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).” This evidence includes the “fatalities inside immigration detention centers as well as deadly shootings involving ICE agents in public spaces.”
As seen in places like Minnesota, I.C.E. “agencies [are] secretly adopting aggressive new policies toward entering homes and making arrests without judicial warrants. ” A fact that should be universally known is that “Federal agents cannot stop cars for traffic violations — that is only permitted by state and local law enforcement officers.” According to this law, I.C.E. agents are not permitted to stop cars or search houses, just based on skin color or suspicion. “The right of the people to be secure…against unreasonable searches and seizures” is a known amendment of the Constitution. These Federal officers have broken these laws numerous times by stopping cars and shooting at “runaways.”
Some may say that I.C.E. provides safe and legal jobs and protocols. If “ICE focuses on legal and safe immigration enforcement,” Then why are their exsesive amounts of deaths in I.C.E. custody? I.C.E. is known for “Protecting America,” but with “targeting undocumented aliens with criminal records who pose a threat to public safety.” This is only making America's civilians afraid. According to the I.C.E. careers website that dedicates itself to finding jobs in America, I.C.E. claims that “People are smuggled and trafficked, while children are sexually exploited at home and abroad.” I.C.E. uses this as a reason to capture the colored criminals. It is supposed to focus on true crimes, and yet they only focus on the race of America's people. Even if I.C.E. provides jobs, they are truly safe or stable jobs; they cater to people who agree with their values.
According to the overwhelming evidence, I.C.E. is unconstitutional. To fix this issue, I.C.E. needs to focus on its stated priorities, including its legal captures and policies, along with needed weapon regulation. After the “6 deaths in ICE custody and 2 fatal shootings,” there needs to be interference on the ICE environment. This includes when weapons and force should be used. In addition to this, there could be classes before entry that teach the use of weapons. A woman named Renee Nicole Good was brutally shot by the I.C.E. agency. To fix this issue, we need to “help ICE focus and improve on stated priorities to find and remove illegal aliens who are criminals, fugitives, or recent arrivals.”
The I.C.E. agency is an unconstitutional use of government due to the violations of the amendments, the death rates, aggressive policies, and unregulated searches. To help out your immigrant neighbors, who are afraid of suffering at the hands of I.C.E., you can do your part by protesting to see change and supporting your community.
