The F-3 shells have been successfully removed from the chassis. Upon the removal of all glass in the cab, the number boards and headlight, they will be put in a bucket of degreaser.
The degreaser will strip off all the original paint making a blank canvas for repainting and kitbashing on the dummy unit, new decals to be added, and a clear coat to finish the job.
The front F unit will become the M-K-T's F-3c numbered 66-C and the dummy unit as the 401-B that was rebuilt at the Katy's Parsons shops following a fire.
Both 66-C and 401-B are actually the same locomotive but in different era paint schemes.

Today wasn't just my birthday, it was the 60th anniversary of the last run of my favorite passenger train, The Texas Special on the Katy in 1965.
In the last minutes of July 1st 2025, we celebrate and we cherish the memory of one of America's finest passenger trains.

Got some exciting news for everyone!
Recently, I donated three of my o scale cars to my local model railroad, and I'm replacing them with better stuff
I also got a K-Line Missouri Kansas Texas bay window caboose numbered 60, which is one of two preserved M-K-T bay window cabooses still around
(60 in katy Texas and 61 in parsons Kansas)
Lastly, I finally purchased a Lionel CW-80 watt transformer to run 382!
If all goes well, 382 will have its first run in a few days!🫡
