Harry Greb may be the greatest fighter boxing has ever seen, and the case for him only gets stronger the more you look at the record. There’s no footage of him in action—no videotape to replay, no highlight reel to settle the debate—only the testimony of the people who saw him live and the numbers he left behind. That absence of film is part of what makes his legend so extraordinary.
“The Pittsburgh Windmill” went 45-0 in the year 1919 alone and, according to many boxing historians, 52-0 over a remarkable 16-month stretch—fighting the best competition available in brutal 10, 12, and 15-round fights. Today, elite fighters may compete once or twice a year. Greb often fought multiple times in a month.
His résumé is unmatched. He defeated 16 International Boxing Hall of Famers for 33 total victories over Hall of Fame opponents. Floyd Mayweather has beaten 8 Hall of Famers (likely 9 once Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is inducted), with one win over each.
Context matters.
When Floyd Mayweather says he defeated more world champions than anyone else, remember that today’s boxing has 17 weight classes and 4 major sanctioning bodies—up to 68 recognized world champions. During Greb’s career, there were only 8 weight classes and 1 recognized champion per division—just 8 world champions in the entire sport.
Gene Tunney finished his career 65-1-1, and his only loss and only draw came against Harry Greb. Tunney later moved up and beat Jack Dempsey to become heavyweight champion of the world. After Greb suffered a detached retina, he fought much of the latter part of his career with vision in only one eye.
* He compiled an official record of 261-20-18, with well over 300 professional bouts when newspaper decisions are included.
No sports science. No million-dollar camps. No carefully managed schedules. Just relentless competition against anyone, anytime. The fighters of the past were built differently. Harry Greb wasn’t just an all-time great—he’s one of the greatest competitors in the history of sports. #boxing #harrygreb #alltimegreat #halloffamer

People often point out that Floyd Mayweather Jr. holds the record for defeating the most world champions—and that’s an incredible accomplishment.
But context matters.
Floyd competed in the four-belt era, with 17 weight classes, creating far more opportunities for fighters to win world titles. By contrast, Sugar Ray Robinson fought in the one-belt era, when there were only eight weight classes and just one recognized world champion per division.
Robinson’s résumé is staggering. He defeated 10 members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame for a total of 19 Hall of Fame victories, while Mayweather owns 8 Hall of Fame victories.
Robinson also began his career as a lightweight and fought all the way up to light heavyweight. Using today’s weight-class structure, that span would cover roughly seven divisions. Mayweather officially won world titles in five divisions, but one of those came when he fought Canelo Álvarez for Canelo’s 154-pound title at a 152-pound catchweight, so he did not actually move through five full weight classes. If Floyd fought in the eight-belt era, his championship résumé would translate to two world titles in two different divisions.
Both men are all-time greats. Mayweather’s undefeated record, defensive genius, and championship success are legendary. But when you consider the era, the number of Hall of Fame opponents defeated, and the breadth of Robinson’s accomplishments, it’s easy to understand why so many historians, trainers, and fighters still regard Sugar Ray Robinson as the greatest pound-for-pound boxer who ever lived. In this week’s boxing lesson, I’ll show you how to cut the distance and turn any fight into an inside battle using the same pro techniques I teach world-class fighters.
Learn how to:
🥊 Use feints and throwaway punches to draw a reaction
💥 Use the push hook to pin your opponent’s arm
🦾 Apply the forearm pin to close the distance and work inside
⚡ Control the range — don’t let your opponent control you
This is one of the most effective ways to dominate close range and land clean inside shots safely and efficiently.

Most fighters can’t figure out how to crack the Philly Shell... 👀
But Oscar De La Hoya found a way against Floyd Mayweather — and it worked early in the fight.
He jabbed inside Floyd’s lead shoulder, right into the pec area, which threw off his balance and opened the lane for the right hand. 💥
In my latest video, I break down exactly how to do this move step-by-step, why it works, and what someone in the Philly Shell doesn’t want you to do.
👉 Watch here: https://youtu.be/rZ1JP1acV2s
Question for you guys:
Have you ever tried this against someone using the Philly Shell? Did it work for you? Drop your answer below 👇
