Helping people to learn Ancient Greek :)

Learn Ancient Greek

Hi everyone! I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and that you will have a wonderful 2026. I am taking a break at the moment and so Lesson 67 should be out on Saturday 10th January instead of tomorrow. It is going to cover the (relatively rare) pluperfect tense - in particular, verbs in the pluperfect indicative active. After that, we shall have covered all the verb tenses in Greek except for one very rare tense which we shall look at later on.

P.S. The picture attached is from summer of last year. Can you read the name of the individual that I was standing next to? :)

Hi everyone! Unfortunately Lesson 59 - which will focus on practice with the future indicative active - will not be out this Saturday but rather next Saturday (13/09/25) because I have been extraordinarily busy in the past week. The biweekly uploads should resume from next Saturday, though :) In the meantime, enjoy this meme that I found online a while ago (all credit goes to its original creator)

Learn Ancient Greek

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all doing well. I am writing to say that Lesson 58 will unfortunately be slightly delayed - it should be released in the evening of Monday 25th August rather than the morning of Saturday 23rd. I have been busy with a flat move and will be busy over the next few days due to a trip (of the holiday kind, not the fall kind!), so although I have filmed the video today, I shall edit and release it on Monday. It’s an especially significant lesson, since we are starting our journey into the land of verbs! Stay tuned, therefore.

Anyway, I have included this photo of me in a cowboy hat and a shirt featuring the Mona Lisa dabbing in order to brighten your day :) (Thanks to my sister for getting me the wonderful shirt as a souvenir from her trip to Paris!) Best wishes, David

Hey everyone! I shall be releasing Vocabulary Checkpoint 2 tomorrow. I did release it today but I have since realised that there is at least one thing to correct (thanks to @frederickarmour1346 for pointing this out!) and thus I am going to thoroughly proofread the vocab list before rereleasing the video tomorrow. After that, my next lessons will be covering verbs! Thank you all very much for your support, encouragement, and eagle-eyed observations!

Learn Ancient Greek

Hey everyone!

There is no new video today because we are still in the Christmas period :) I shall be back with Lesson 41 on Saturday 11th January. After that point, I shall be releasing a lesson every other Saturday rather than every Saturday, as I need more time for my other commitments.

Thank you very much for all of your support and for following my course in general. I hope that you have had an amazing Christmas and that you will have a fantastic 2025!

All the best,

David

Hi everyone! I am happy to say that I commenced my PhD at the University of Cambridge almost two months ago and everything is going well. However, I am writing to say that I have been especially busy this past week and, as a result, Lesson 38 is going to be released next Saturday rather than this Saturday. Sorry for the delay! In the meantime, keep up the good work with the Greek. Be sure to revise what you have learned when you have the time - especially those areas which you feel that your knowledge is weakest concerning. All the best!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I am on holiday this week, so unfortunately there will be no lesson this Saturday. However, I shall return to releasing lessons every Saturday starting with the following Saturday (3rd August). Thank you all so much for your support and for following the course. Please keep revising what you’ve learned and keep learning Greek!

All the best,

David
