sure, there are shortcuts that’ll get you there quicker. but to stay, you’ll need character - who are you when the audience exits and the lights shut off? many of us are wanting to be delivered from our circumstances but aren’t willing to pay the hefty price of character development. why waste time, energy and resources getting there if you’re not prepared to stay? get a ROI (return on investment) of your (and others) blood, sweat and tears - work on the inside of you to reap a harvest outside of you. #characterbeforecontent

got out to the city yesterday. went to brunch, an art gallery and supported a good friends new social business venture. 2022 was all about growth…tilling the soil, planting seeds of change, pulling up old baggage weeds. 2023 appears to be the year of balance - there’s still a lot of work to do - but i’m granting myself permission to actually BE in the moment AND enjoy it; not lamenting about the past, not fretting about the future.

one of the tracks on my latest EP is called “abase and abound”. for me, that means knowing how to have joy and peace regardless of if i’m on the mountaintop or in the valley - if you live long enough, life will hand you both. i am learning to be like the tree planted by the water…ebbing and flowing with the winds and waters…but never breaking; my roots run deep.

my hope for you is that you allow the vicissitudes of life to teach you. we all enjoy the good times…but it’s in the “not so good” times that we learn and grow. so don’t run from them. if you’re in a storm, dig into it. they never last forever. so while you’re in it, find out what it came to teach you. and when it’s over, rejoice(!), knowing that it was good for you that you were afflicted; for without the rains, there can be no new growth. ✌🏾
