Through A Glass Darkly

I had a strange experience this morning that I wanted to both record for posterity and to share with the community here. I want to emphasize that there could be entirely natural explanations for what I'm about to describe, but I have been unable to come up with one just yet (though I do hope the community can offer some).

No later than 5:28 am Pacific Standard Time, I woke up to an intense scent. It took me a few minutes to make it out, but as the scent strengthened, it was an extremely powerful scent of cinnamon in the room.

I often keep the door to my balcony open, so open air comes into the room through a screen.

The smell was so odd, I woke up my wife, and she smelled it too.

We quickly confirmed that none of my children were downstairs making anything with cinnamon.

So the question was: where did it come from?

I tried to drift back into sleep, and shortly thereafter, I heard three distant hoots from a great horned owl.

Following this incident, I did some research on what the scent of cinnamon had to do with this the sorts of things I cover on this channel, and what I found was... interesting. But I don't want to contaminate the minds of folks reading this before you all have time to provide your own theories (both mundane and paranormal).

Also I want to note primarily for posterity and secondarily for context that this event happened in the midst of an ongoing UAP/mystery drone flap around the world, primarily over UK air bases and Picatinny Arsennel in New Jersey. There were also unconfirmed sightings over Sacramento, California last evening, which is just north of where I live.
