In the year ending March 2024, the IOPC recorded 85,458 complaints against police in England and Wales a 5% increase from the previous year.

⚖️ Misconduct Allegations
The Metropolitan Police saw a 48% rise in officers suspended between April 2023 and April 2024.

💰 Misconduct Settlements
In 2023–24, the Met Police paid £7.6 million in misconduct settlements — more than double the previous year.

👁️ Public Trust Decline
As of October 2024, 52% of adults in Great Britain reported “no or not very much” confidence in the police to tackle local crime, up from 39% in 2019.
