Alright people, hope you had a bloody brilliant Easter!

***This is an awareness post!!!***

Now, if you're reading this, you're probably subscribed to my channel, which means you're highly intelligent and have extremely good taste, so this post won't apply to you.

However, just in case...

Youtube these days seems to be turning into an ever-expanding cesspit of AI-generated garbage. I'm sure you've all noticed this.

A clickbait title leading to videos with generic stock images, barely relevant footage, a narrator who pronounces everything wrong, and 'facts' riddled with mistakes.

I clicked on one the other day called 'best beaches in Kent', and the opening footage was a drone shot of Seven Sisters...in Sussex!

If you find yourself clicking on one of these videos, here's what you need to do:

- Do not engage with the video. Don't click like or even dislike, and definitely don't comment.
- Click off the video straight away.

This will bring the video down in the algorithm. Some of these 0% effort, 100% garbage videos have views in the millions. Why? Because of the comments section being filled with people saying 'you pronounce it Lestersheer not lesestershire' or 'Dudley's in the Midlands, not the Outer Hebrides', or 'that's a picture of Boston, Massachussetts, not Boston, Lincolnshire' etc.

Nobody is reading these comments. You're literally talking to a computer. But YouTube takes this as engagement. This helps boost the video in the algorithm and promotes it to more people. Who do the same damn thing.

And yes, this is bloody frustrating for me, who actually goes to places and uses my own footage, when I could be probably getting more views just letting ChatGPT do the 'work' 😂

No daily video today, the Top 50 countdown has flopped! My views and watch time are at their lowest in ages and it looks like I'll be living off sardines and pot noodles next month! 😆

So, back to weekly Thursday videos. The next two will be finishing up the worst places in Britain series, and then I've got a load of stuff to be edited and posted!

Evening Folks! 👋

You might have had a notification for the latest video '50th Worst Place in Britain'! 📹

This is the first of 50 videos in 50 days, but don't worry - each video is only about 2 minutes each.

I've had a few requests to do a final ranking of all places across Britain and there were three ways I could've done it;
- One really long video
- Two-Five medium-length videos
- Fifty short videos

The main reason I went for 50 short videos, posted daily, is because I know from my stats that so many people click on the videos and just skip to the end to see what was number 1. Well, you can't do that this time, you'll have to wait! muahhahahahahah *evil laugh*

Also, of course, this way I think more traffic will be driven to the channel which will help fund this channel for future endeavours.

On this channel there is;

*NO AI slop
*NO annoying sponsors in the middle of the videos
*NO Patreon nor Memberships nor other Paywalls
*NO constant begging to like, comment, share and subscribe
*I use all my own footage from places that I have taken myself (aside from the odd pic or gif which is always credited)

Before creating this YouTube channel I was a consumer of YouTube (especially in the pandemic) and I know how annoying the above things can be, that's why I want to keep it free of them as long as I can.

The only money I get is from ad revenue and from the very generous folk who have contributed to the channel over the years, THANK YOU, you know who you are 🙏

Big THANK YOU to all of my subscribers and those that watch regularly, especially the long-arse 2-hour vlog I posted the other day 🫣

ICYMI folks, I just posted my longest ever video! At almost 2 hours, I wouldn't blame you if you skipped it 😂

But for those who enjoy the travel vlogs and the hiking videos, you might enjoy it. Travelling across the stunning South West of England, hiking in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, eating questionable food and battling with bad weather and unreliable public transport, the video wraps up my six-month trip around Britain.

Made it down to Land's End yesterday and am now finally en route to my native Kent (via a few stops in Somerset and Dorset) and my trip around this sceptered Isle will be over 🇬🇧

Almost six months, over 250 villages, towns and cities, and nearly 7,000 miles travelled on hundreds of buses and trains and nights under canvas or cheap hostels or hotels are coming to a close and boy, am I ready for a rest 🫠

I've learned more about my own country in six months than I had in 30+ years of living here. It's been exhausting, and not something I think I'll be repeating 😆 tons of footage to edit and then it'll be onto some new projects in 2026 🌍🌎🌏 Probably more documentary-style videos from across Europe to start with. If there's anything in particular you'd like to see, and won't wreck me financially, let me know in the comments 👇
