Frau Holle Cottage

Hello & Welcome to Frau Holle Cottage.
So glad you're here for a visit! My name is Charlanne. My husband Gus and I would love to welcome you to our little home/cottage in Southern California. We are nestled at the foothills of a small mountain range, and we love it here. We have lived here for over 2 years now. We love our home/cottage so much, that we decided to give it a name. We settled on the name Frau Holle Cottage after the German folk tales of Mother Winter.
You see, our first Winter here at Frau Holle Cottage was Magical. We received 3 or 4 days of snow, and everyone in town said that they had not seen that much snow in 20 years. It does snow here but it usually melts quickly. I was thrilled because I adore the season of Winter.
We hope you enjoy this channel. It is a labor of love. If you love VLOGS - Thrifting, Garage Sales, Gardening-, Life over 50, Retired Life, and Nature, then you may just love visiting us here on our Youtube Channel - Frau Holle Cottage.

Hello Friends!
I thought I would make a post here and say HELLO!
I am sorry I haven't been making any videos here on the Channel but there hasn't been much going on. I kinda have Thrift Store & Yard Sale burn out as well. I also haven't had the urge to decorate for Fall or Halloween also. I know I will at some point this month. The end of August and the beginning of this month, Gus had 2 surgeries on his hand. He had a very large mass growing on one of his hands. The first surgery he had was to do a biopsy. All the results came back cancer free. Yay! The second surgery was to remove the mass. Gus is now recovering and is doing great! We are very happy. Feeling very grateful.
Another thing that I have started doing recently, is that I started posting videos on my other Youtube Channel called CHARLANNE CASTANARES - Link >>> youtube.com/@charlannecastanares/shorts
Mostly I just make SHORT videos. On that channel, I share my outfits, being a midsize Lady, makeup favs, wigs and more. It's fun for me to have another creative outlet here on Youtube. Please feel free to come on over and say Hi and Subscribe!
Do stay tuned here at Frau Holle Cottage because I will be making a short fun little Fall decor video soon.
Love & Blessings!!

I saw this and had too share. Below are 2 pics (click right arrow to see 2nd pic)
I just love it. If you don't have a fireplace, this is a great idea. Want to add a fireplace to a bedroom, this is perfect!

Thank You Annette Peterson for the recipe mag you sent me!
I loved it. The first day I got it, I saw a recipe that looked so good and it inspired me to make something almost just like it. It had Kale & Spinach in it and I love them both. It was a sweet surprise my friend!
Thank you again. Love & Blessings!

Hello Friends!
Happy September! I saw this cute idea and had to share. I always see old globes for sale cheap and with a little paint and some time, you can create this for some Spooky Fun.
PS: I will be decorating for Fall this month and then come mid September, I will add the Halloween decor. I love the BER- Months.

Hello Friends!
I saw another cute idea - posted below is a cute vintage child's highchair, now being used as a place to store old cookbooks. Love it!

Hello Friends!
Yesterday I made Apple Butter using the last batch of apples from our tree.
It turned out so good and it was so easy.
I didn't have enough apples to fill the crockpot, so it only took about 6 hours for it to cook.
If you fill your crockpot - it usually can take about 8-10 hours on low heat.
Check on them every so often and stir.
RECIPE : About 6 lbs of Apples
Dice them skin and all.
1 Cup Organic White Sugar
1 Cup of Organic Brown Sugar
Add as much Cinnamon as you like. Measure with your heart.
You can also add 1 tsp of vanilla if you like.
When they are all done cooking, blend them with a blender to puree - juice and all.
If they are still a bit watery, put them back in the crockpot on high until they have thickened - about 1 hour.
(For my batch of apples, I didn't have to put them back in the crockpot.)

🌻🌻 Hello Friends!!
Wishing you all a lovely Saturday evening and a restful Sunday. I saw this picture and thought what a great idea it is to keep a collection of rolling pins.
