This year, we were honored to hear from keynote speakers who are helping us raise awareness and support for Taíno language and culture revitalization at the national and international levels:
• Jaco Du Toit, UNESCO representative International Decade of Indigenous Languages
• Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus
• Ludmila Golovine, President and CEO of MasterWord and Mayan Languages Preservation Project
• Evelyn DeJesus, Executive Vice President of the AFT
• Víctor Bonilla Sánchez, President of the Asociación de Maestros de Puerto Rico
• Jason Dropik, Executive Director of the National Indian Education Association

We also had the privilege of hearing from spiritual leaders and elders in our community: Akutu Irka Mateo, Bejíke Miguel A Sague Jr., Kasíke Jorge Baracutay Estévez, and elder Dr. José Barreiro.

The gathering was packed with powerful and inspiring presentations, including:
• Taíno language courses and revitalization efforts
• Bringing Taíno to Puerto Rican Sign Language
• The intersection of traditional and Western medicine
• Archeoastronomy at the Tibes Indigenous Ceremonial Center
• The role of Taíno language in STEM projects
• Contributions from our Hawaiian, Lakota, Quechua, and Mayan-speaking siblings
• Music, poetry, and art celebrating our heritage
...and so much more!
