I'm tired of people questioning my authority, so I'm going to explain The Rival's power one last time.
First of all, The Rival beat a Godzilla that was stronger than Evolved Godzilla. Evolved Godzilla got brain damage from being thrown into buildings and needed a couple minutes to get up again to help Kong against Shimo. The B.E.A.S.T glove which was confirmed to be able to shatter astroids also knocked him out for a while. Ancient Godzilla took an asteroid to the head and was STILL STANDING! Not knocked out, not even dazed, not a single bruise, he was still standing and swam underground to hibernate like nothing happened. Evolved- and Ancient Godzilla are both confirmed to be equal to Shimo. Ancient Godzilla sealed Shimo in the Subterranean Realm, the GxK novelization says so. Evolved Godzilla has shown no feats of him being being able to defeat Shimo, but every statement counts I guess.
Second of all, his fight with The Rival took place after the Ice Age, the same Ice Age that had him fighting Ghidorah and Shimo. His flashbacks in Godzilla Dominion show The Rival near advanced human colonies, WITHOUT snow. They show literal treehouses. And they show humans with proper clothes on, not skinned saber-toothed cats.
Third of all, Godzilla was an adult since the PERMIAN ERA! An era that's not even close to the era in which he fought The Rival. Greg Keyes said that Godzilla was younger (Younger than in the movies), that Tiamat beat an aging Rival (GvK Kong humiliated Evolved Tiamat in the ocean), and that he COULD'VE been jumped by multiple apes, but there's no proof of this. An ape beating Godzilla caused a lot of controversy, that's why Greg made those statements in the first place.
And fourth and final of all, it was confirmed that the Kong tribes sometimes banished some of their members. That's why The Rival was alone. I can assure you, if he had been with Skar King's tribe, they wouldn't have spared Godzilla.
Side note: When an animal hibernates they grow into bad shape, they get smaller, weaker, slower, etc. But when they get active again they slowly return back to their normal state. Arvid Nelson confirmed they used that same logic on the Titans. That's why Godzilla 1954 looked small and weak, and that's why he's growing more powerful every movie. He hibernated shortly after the end of the Permian era, woke up in time to face Ghidorah during the Ice Age, fought The Rival after the Ice Age, hibernated again, and awoke in 1954. It took Godzilla 73 years (1954-2027) to almost return to his peak, that near peak being Evolved Godzilla. That's less than a century and there's a million year time gap between the Permian era and the Ice Age, so there's no excuse that The Rival caught a weak Godzilla off guard!
