Small unedited snippet of the new semi-biographical book I'm working on:

The lake was, on the whole, well-stocked with fish, but this place where the boy found himself was addressed "A Fishing Hole" much the way a politician is addressed "The Honourable:" more a delusional courtesy than a description of fact. You see, this particular ‘hole,’ for reasons whichever, yielded little in the way of fighting fish, but much in the way of tahoxi (turtle) and òpalanie (eagle) and tëmakwe (beaver). The act of “fishing” here was, therefore, an exercise more meditative than sportive, one of spiritual restoration in which the angler considers the sound of his breathing, enumerates the divers floral and botanical perfumes floating through the air, and recalls the particular lessons of birdsong: bluejay alerting the forest to danger; crow signaling the presence of a meal; Lady Mockingbird boldly defending her nest from a raptor multitudes larger than herself as Lord Mockingbird gayly sings in a nearby tree - for while the two-legged Indians of this place were long ago murdered, or subsumed into a larger society, or marched to faraway places to be supplanted by the same, Mockingbird shared no such fate, and exists where and as he was centuries ago, still delighting in the debt- and tax-free wonder of Indian country. And in Indian country, as any Unci or Uma will instruct you, men sit around while women do all the work, and there is no exception for Mockingbirds.

If you are a capitalist, and you don’t think Elon becoming the world’s first trillionaire on a stable of wildly unprofitable, hype-driven companies isn’t batshit crazy, then you are not a capitalist.

I’m sooooo glad I rolled my old 401K into a fund that I manage personally because I am getting OUT of the broader US market for the foreseeable future. I’m putting the shit I’m not allowed to manage myself into utility ETFs (e.g. VPU) and throwing the rest at my own company as low-interest loans.

I don’t even think VFSAX is safe. The entire global economy is about to get rug pulled.
