PLASTIC TRAINING BULLETS — I recently tested these at the range and had very interesting results. I measured both penetration and velocity and was surprised by how much speed and penetration they produce with only a primer and no propellant.

SHELLS
🟡 “2 pr II” & “VIII” refer to the most common versions of the gun in RN service..
🟡 “Sub-Cal” means that it is used in sub-caliber training systems.
🟡 “LA” refers to low angle training systems (the high-angle case was shorter).
🟡 “N” refers to the Royal Navy.
🟡 “FE” or “XY” are the recognized marks or initials of repairer.
🟡 “ECC” indicates it was manufactured by Edward Curran, Cardiff.
🟡 “VAEL” indicates it was manufactured by Vickers Armstrong Engineering (Ltd).
PRIMER
🟠 “No.27” or “No.13” is the type of Primer, in this case an impact or percussion primer.
🟠 “IN” refers to primer being Instantaneous, meaning it ignites the charge immediately when struck.
🟠 “IIN” refers to the primer being IMPROVED Instantaneous
🟠 “7-41” or “10/37"refers to the production month and year (July 1941) & (October 1937).
🟠 “BR” or “RL" refers to a factory/lot/inspection code, not a part of the primer.
