I lived in NY about a year after the attack. I remember taking the subway up and around where the twin towers once stood. It was surreal.
Last year when we visited NY, we saw the memorial and it was just as surreal. We saw a family mourning their loved ones taken in that horrific day. It was also really tough to explain what we were about to see and what had happened to our kids. We did it in the most age appropriate way possible, but it made an impact on them.
I think about how we all came together after that attack. And I think about how divided we are now.
We’ll never forget.
